Boise, Oct. 10, 2008 - Boise Police, responding to a call of a fight, instead found a man on felony probation in possession of three rifles and freshly harvested marijuana plants.

Arrested: Gary Z. Simpson, 55, Boise

Charges: Felon in Possession of a Firearm (F), Manufacturing Marijuana (F), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (m)

What Happened: Approx 3:55 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 9, Boise Police were called to a home on the 7700 blk of Cummins Ave, near Cole and the Interstate, for a fight and battery.

When officers arrived, they found two men apparently involved, but neither was hurt seriously and neither wanted to press charges.

However, while at the home, officers received a tip that one of the men was actively growing marijuana and had just pulled the plants out of the grown as police were on their way.

A consent search of the home found freshly harvested marijuana plants and three rifles. As the suspect, Simpson was on parole for a 2003 burglary, he is prohibited from possessing firearms.
