10-06-08 Pursuit Ends with PIT

October 6th, 2008 - Boise Police officers successfully ended a lengthy pursuit of a suspect with a Pursuit Intervention Technique (PIT) after he intentionally rammed a patrol car in a parking lot at the corner of Orchard St and Franklin St. just after 10pm last night.

When a patrol officer attempted to stop the driver of a Dodge Caravan for investigation of DUI on Americana Blvd, he fled southbound on Latah St, then westbound on Alpine St before driving into the parking lot of the Fred Meyer store on Orchard. Officers say he then intentionally rammed a patrol car, slightly injuring an officer. Another officer then pitted the van, but the driver was able to continue driving eastbound on Franklin. The driver then accelerated to 60-70mph, and led officers into the valley around the University, then back up to the bench, where he was again pitted at Curtis Rd and Irving Rd, this time successfully stopping the van. The driver was taken into custody without further incident.

Arrested: Luke Ledford – 32yrs. Address Unk.

Charges: Aggravated Battery on an Police Officer, Aggravated DUI, Felony Eluding, and Misd Driving Without Privileges
