09-26-08 Cocaine Trafficking Arrests

09-26-08 Cocaine Trafficking Arrests

Boise, Sept. 26, 2008 - Boise Police Narcotics Detectives arrested two men overnight in what officers call a "high level cocaine trafficking" ring.

    Arrested: Jose Sanchez-Avalos, 27, Boise

Arrested: Jose Dejesus Veles, 28, Nampa

Charges: Both - 5 cts of Trafficking Cocaine

Background: Boise Police Narcotics Detectives began this investigation in early August. Since that time, undercover officers have purchased approx. 2 pounds of cocaine from the suspects.

"These guys definitely are high level cocaine traffickers in the Treasure Valley," said one of the undercover Boise PD detectives who worked the case. "They are connected to a major source that we believe is outside the Boise area, so this investigation will certainly continue."

Last Night: After another undercover buy, at approx 11:00 p.m. last night, Boise Police Narcotics Detectives, with the assistance of Nampa Police, Canyon County Sheriff's Narcotics Officers, and the DEA, served two search warrants; one in Boise on the 5000 blk of Clinton St., the other on the 1300 blk. of Robinson Rd. in Nampa.

Boise Police arrested Sanchez-Avalos at his Clinton St. home. Veles was arrested following a traffic stop as he left the Clinton St. address.

As a result of the warrant, officers have recovered $18,000 in cash, three vehicles, and additional smaller amounts of cocaine. As of this time (11:00 a.m. Friday) officers are still on scene searching farm and outbuildings at the Veles home on Robinson Rd. Officers say more arrests may be coming as a result of the ongoing investigation.
