09-09-08 DUI Driver Hits Woman Standing by her Car

    Boise, Sept. 9, 2008 - Boise Police arrested a drunk driver early Monday morning after she hit a woman standing by her car at Roosevelt and Alpine Streets. The victim remains hospitalized with what officers believe are life threatening injuries. The DUI driver had a blood alcohol level approx. twice the legal limit.

    Arrested: Tiffany B. Childs, 36, Boise

    What Happened: Approx. 10:00 p.m. Sunday evening, Boise Police were called to a minor traffic accident at Roosevelt and Alpine. One of the involved drivers, a 19 year old Boise woman, was standing outside her car in the roadway waiting for officers to arrive. 

    While she waited, a third vehicle driving north on Roosevelt, driven by the suspect, hit the young woman, throwing her approx. 20 feet into the air. Witnesses say the suspect was driving without headlights at the time she hit the victim.

    The victim was taken to the hospital with what officers at the scene say appeared to be serious, possibly life threatening injuries.

    The suspect, Childs was arrested at the scene. Officers say the suspect smelled of alcohol. At the Ada County Jail the suspect blew a BAC of .168/.167.
