05-29-08 Fugitive Arrested in Burglary Investigation
Boise, May 29, 2008 - Boise Police arrested a man wanted on a felony assault warrant out of Malheur County, Oregon as part of an ongoing burglary investigation.
Suspect: Joe L. Parras, Jr., 25, no known permanent address
What Happened: Boise Police, investigating a burglary that occurred at a home east of Broadway last night, learned that a person of interest in the burglary was possibly at a home on the 2200 blk of Euclid. Approx. 2:00 this afternoon, officers approached the house and saw the suspect outside. When the suspect saw the officers, he ran inside the home. Officers quickly blocked the exits to the home. Two women and two children inside the home, acquaintances of the suspect, came out of the home peacefully and were escorted to a safe location. Officers felt evacuations of nearby homes was not necessary, but they did ask neighbors to stay inside or keep a safe distance.
Officers had information the suspect was wanted on the felony warrant from Oregon. He also has a criminal history that includes weapons violations. Not knowing if the suspect was armed, the officers strategy was to call in extra resources to make every effort to take the suspect into custody peacefully. On duty SWAT officers and a K9 team was assembled and made entry into the home through an open door. Officers say when the suspect realized officers were coming inside for him, he surrendered peacefully.
The suspect Parras was arrested on the Oregon warrant. He is currently being questioned by Boise Police, along with a second person of interest in connection with the home burglary last night.
