03-17-08 Arrest In Rape Case

Boise March 17th, 2008. After an in-depth investigation, detectives have charged a man with the rape of a 16 year old girl that took place in June of 2007. John Thomas Rainey has been charged with Felony Rape. The investigation into this crime has been extensive as detectives have spent hundreds of manhours working this case and processing evidence. Detectives are pleased the perpetrator is no longer on the street. The suspect is already in custody at the Ada County Jail on an unrelated charge. The investigation has revealed that the suspect was known to the victim.

In Custody: John Thomas Rainey, 27 years old of Boise

Charge: Felony Rape

No further information is available for public release at this time. Further information in this case will be revealed as it moves forward in the criminal court process

June 22nd 2007, At approx. 4:34 a.m. this morning, Boise Police responded to a report of a rape that occurred in a Boise home in the area of Edna and Maple Grove.

    The victim, a 16 year old girl says she woke to find a man in her bed. The man raped her. The victim says she did not know the man, however, she reported the crime as soon as the man left the home and was able to provide officers with a description of the suspect.

     The victim was immediately transported to a nearby hospital for for treatment and evaluation. She and her family were also offered the services of a Victim-Witness Coordinator from the Boise Police Department who will assist the victim with any emotional needs following this crime.

    Boise Police detectives have not received any reports of similar crimes anywhere in the city.
