12-19-07 Update: Overnight Stolen Car Crash

12-19-07 Update: Overnight Stolen Car Crash

Boise, Dec. 19, 2007 - Boise Police are still looking for the driver of a stolen pick up that crashed into a tree near a convenience store at Curtis and the Connector. It happened just before midnight last night.

Officers had seen the vehicle a few minutes earlier, recognized the vehicle as being stolen from West Boise last week, and had begun a short pursuit near Fairview & Mitchell. Officers decided to end the pursuit, however, and the vehicle was not being pursued at the time it crashed.

When officers arrived on scene, the driver had run off. Two people in the truck were questioned. One woman was arrested on unrelated warrants, however no charges have been filed relating to the stolen vehicle or the crash.

At this point, officers are still trying to determine the identity and location of the driver.

The vehicle had been reported as a suspect vehicle in several very recent thefts from convenience stores, including beer thefts and gas drive offs.

Anyone with information is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 343-COPS.
