12-05-07 Car Pedestrian Fatal

Boise December 5th, 2007- Boise Police Officers and Boise Detectives are investigating a pedestrian vehicle accident that has resulted in the tragic death of a child this morning. At Approximately 7:38 AM this morning Boise Police were dispatched to a vehicle pedestrian accident near the intersection of Kessenger and State streets. During the course of the investigation officers have determined that the accident took place before sunrise when it was still dark out on a stretch of State street with a speed limit of 45 mph. There are no street lights present at the location of the incident. Witnesses say the child, who appeared to be alone, stepped in front of a Westbound car from behind a telephone pole and was struck on State street. The 3 year old boy was transported to the hospital and pronounced deceased. 

No citations have been issued to the driver of the vehicle at this time. 

The boy lived in a nearby residence and Detectives are working to determine what the child may have been doing near State Street this morning. Further information will be released as it becomes available.
