11-06-07 Solicitation Warning For Boise Citizens

11-06-07 Solicitation Warning For Boise Citizens

Boise November 6th, 2007- Boise Police want to caution citizens when it comes to door to door solicitors. Officers have taken several reports from citizens who say unlicensed solicitors are using aggressive tactics to sell magazines and other products in Boise neighborhoods. The reports have come in the past couple weeks from neighborhoods surrounding Table Rock, Warm Springs Mesa, and the foothills neighborhoods above 8th Street.

All door to door solicitors in the city are required to clearly display a license issued by the city when they come to your door. Officers want to encourage citizens to ask to see a license if someone comes to your door. If a solicitor does not have a license you are strongly encouraged to contact the Boise Police through non emergency dispatch at 377-6790.

Under title 5 chapter 12 of Boise City Code Soliciting without a license is a misdemeanor and can carry a fine of up to 6 months in jail and a three hundred dollar fine.
