Homicide Investigation

Homicide Investigation

Boise, Feb. 16 - 2007 - Boise Police are investigating what appears to be a homicide, discovered this morning in a field behind a church near Kootenai on the 1100 blk. of Roosevelt.

At 7:50 a.m., Officers responded to a call from a neighbor who reported seeing what he believed was a body lying in the baseball field behind the church. When officers arrived they found the body of a young man who appears to have suffered multiple gun shot wounds. No weapon was found at the scene.

Detectives believe the man was killed where he was found. The victim is dark skinned, possibly Hispanic, and appears to be in his mid-to-late 20's. Detectives were not able to find any positive identification on the man's body. When identification is made and family is notified, the victim's name will be released by the Ada County Coroner's Office.

Officers have spent much of the day talking to neighbors and combing the field for more evidence or information that may be related to the crime.

Last night at approx. 9:30 p.m., neighbors in the area did call into police dispatch reporting the sound of possible shots fired. The calls came from neighbors as far as several blocks away. Officers responded quickly searching for anything suspicious, including the possibility the sound came from a nearby school. However, neighbors were unable to pinpoint exactly where the sound came from and officers, at the time, could not find anything suspicious. Today, detectives are investigating whether the two calls are related.

Anyone with any information on the crime is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 343-COPS.
