Officers Investigate Shot Fired

Boise, Jan, 16, 2007 - Boise Police were called to a report of a shot fired at a home on the 600 blk. of Eastman at approx. 1:20 a.m. When officers arrived they found a 33 year old female with a gunshot wound that appeared to be from a handgun. The female was taken to a nearby hospital with injuries that did not appear life threatening.

Officers say at the time of the shooting, only a man and woman were inside the home. Investigators say both appeared to have been drinking prior to the incident. The female was visiting the home, the male was the resident.

After the woman was taken to the hospital, the man agreed to accompany officers to the police facility on Clinton Street for questioning in an effort to determine what happened. As the man sat in a small interview room, he took a can of Copenhagen from his pants pocket. He then used the tin lid of the Copenhagen can to cut himself on the neck. His injuries appeared minor and he was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. After being treated, the man was released into the custody of State Health & Welfare.

No charges have been filed in this case and, at this time, officers are still investigating what led to the shot being fired from the weapon.
