Dont let officers be your designated driver!

Dont let officers be your designated driver!

December 29th, 2006 Boise Police Officers would like to remind drivers and party goers that over this festive holiday weekend police will be out in force looking for intoxicated motorist's. Boise Police will have extra officers on the streets watching for impaired drivers, thanks to a grant from the Idaho Transportation Department's Office of Highway Safety. This grant is paying for approximately 310 hours of Boise Police Officer overtime for these Holiday DUI patrols.

-As of December 29th the Boise Police DUI/STEP team has 1856 DUI's for the year.

-Our numbers to date put us 143 above 2005 and 319 above 2004. Each of those years were the most DUI's in a single year for the DUI/STEP Team.

-DUI Arrests in Boise City Jan. through Nov.: 2087 arrests, a 19% increase over 2005.

The holiday season is a time of celebration and revelry. Drinking and driving is a danger to everyone on the road. Anyone with a Blood Alcohol Content of .08 or higher is in violation of the law and may go to jail. Remember that the risk isn't worth it. Don't let a Boise Police Officer be your designated driver!
