Arrest in Rape/Intimidation Case

Boise, December 15, 2006 - Boise Police have arrested two men in connection with an incident this fall on the Boise State campus. One man is charged with rape, the second is charged with trying to intimidate the victim into dropping the rape charges.

The rape reportedly occurred October 18th shortly before midnight. The suspect is accused of following the victim into her dorm room, shutting and locking the door, and raping the female victim.

    Arrested: Matthew A. Higgins, 18, Paul, Idaho

    Charged: Rape (F)

Higgins was arrested at approx. 10:00 p.m. last night by deputies in Minidoka County and is currently in the Mini-Cassia Criminal Justice Center awaiting transport to Ada County.

During the investigation, detectives learned a second man was attempting to intimidate the victim into dropping the rape charges. Detectives learned the suspect in the intimidation is apparently acquainted with the rape suspect. The intimidation suspect was arrested on the Boise State University campus last Friday, Dec. 8th as he was arranging to meet the victim to offer her money.
