Accident Update: Boy on Bike vs. Auto

Boise, Oct. 23, 2006, 4:45 p.m. - Boise Police have cited a woman for Failure to Purchase a Drivers License, a misdemeanor, after the SUV the woman was driving collided with a 12 year old boy last week on the Boise Bench. The charge means the woman did not have a valid drivers license at the time of the accident.

Maria Nicholas, 28 of Boise was served with the citation by Boise Police today at her home.

Accident Investigation Update: At this time, investigating officers say it appears no further charges will be filed in the case.

Victim Condition Update: The family of the boy injured in the accident has allowed the following release of his condition, he remains hospitalized in stable but serious condition.

Background: At 6:48 a.m. Friday morning, October 19th, Boise Police and Ada County Paramedics were called to the scene of an accident involving a 12 year old boy on his bicycle colliding with an SUV. The driver of the SUV says she did not see the boy in the dark as he entered the roadway on Owyhee St. near Malad St. Sadly, the boy did not have a light on the front of his bicycle and was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
