Bank Robbery Charges

Bank Robbery Charges

Boise, August 30, 2006 - Boise Police believe a man arrested for two bank robberies on August 18th is also responsible for 7 others - 9 bank robberies in all in Boise this year.

Officers want to thank citizens for information that helped arrest a violent suspect and link him to several more open cases that have been under investigation by several detectives since February.

Today, the Ada County Prosecutors Office filed additional charges against Alan Lee Brandt, 49, of Boise. Brandt is now charged with 9 counts of robbery and 6 counts of using a firearm during the robberies.

Detectives believe they have evidence connecting Brandt to the following bank robberies in Boise:

2/10/06 - Wells Fargo, Fairview & Westland. A shot was fired during this robbery.

3/17/06 - Key Bank, 1111 Broadway.

3/27/06 - Key Bank, 4920 Overland.

4/14/06 - Wells Fargo, 4630 W. State.

6/01/06 - Washington Federal, 3197 N. Cole. At least two shots were fired during this robbery.

6/17/06 - Bank of America, Fairview & Mitchell.

8/18/06 - Key Bank, 1111 Broadway.

8/18/06 - 1st bank, 14th & Bannock.

    Important Notes:

  • Officers want to thank citizens who helped provide timely and accurate information regarding these robberies, not only leading to Brandt's arrest August 18th, but also making it possible to link him to the other 7 robberies. Officers want to thank citizens for their cooperation and patience while these investigations have been underway.
  • With today's charges against Brandt, Boise Police detectives believe just three of the 16 bank robberies in the city this year remain unsolved, with one man believed responsible for two of the three remaining open cases.
  • Boise Police say the charges are possible thanks to the cooperation from the Ada County Prosecutors Office, the FBI and other local police agencies including Garden City Police.

Brandt remains in the Ada County jail on 15 felony counts connected to the bank robberies. His booking photo is available through the Ada County Sheriff's web site.
