Fatal Accident Franklin Road

Fatal Accident Franklin Road

Boise, April 4, 2006 – The Boise Police Department is investigating a one-car accident that occurred early this morning that left one man dead.

Officers were called to the scene of the accident at 1:42 a.m. at westbound Franklin, just east of Five Mile Rd. Investigators say it appears a 1988 Ford Bronco with two men inside went off the road, hitting a power pole. The vehicle then caught fire. The driver was able to escape the vehicle. However, the man in the passenger’s seat was not.

The responding officer and one passerby tried to put out the fire, but were not successful and were not able to reach the victim because of the flames.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The cause of death and identity of the victim will be identified by the Ada County Coroner.

The driver was a 26 year old man from Boise. He was treated and released from a local hospital.

The driver has been questioned by police, but no citations or charges have been filed as the cause of the accident is still under investigation.

The accident investigation, including accident reconstruction and evidence testing, is not expected to be completed today.

Once again, the victim’s identity will be released by the Ada County Coroner.
