Boise, March 17, 2006 – A Boise Police School Resource Officer has identified the student believed responsible for setting a fire in a boys bathroom at West Junior High last Wednesday.

According to the investigating SRO, the student is a 9th grader at the school.

The detectives report has been sent to prosecutors for review. The student could face charges of 1st degree Arson.

Arson is a felony with a maximum sentence in juvenile court of 3 years probation and 180 days in detention. Parents may also be held responsible for restitution charges.

Details regarding the students motivation or intention are part of the investigative record and cannot be released by police at this time.
