The Boise Police Department uses a professional polygraphist to assist in criminal cases and in pre-screening processes. This can include pre-employment, internal volunteers, and suspects.
The pre-employment polygraphs begin with a questionnaire that can run anywhere from two to four hours depending on the subject. Criminal polygraphs are done by sworn detectives with BPD who have attended specialized training in this field. A minimum of 400 hours in a polygraph specific school and continuing education is required to maintain professional certification and administer polygraphs with the Boise Police Department.
