Boise Police responded to a call of an assault which had occurred on the night of June 5th at a residence near the intersection of Julion Street and Telfair Drive.  When officers arrived they located evidence that a man and woman who were known to each other had gotten into a verbal argument.  The man then reportedly struck the woman multiple times with his fists, before retrieving a large knife and striking the victim several times on the arms and legs, causing lacerations.  The suspect, identified as Salinas, next reportedly used an axe to strike the victim in the leg and head.  The injured victim was able to get away from the suspect and went to a neighbor’s home where police were called.  The suspect had already left the area when officers arrived on scene.  The victim was transported to an area hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.  Officers conducted an extensive area search for the suspect’s vehicle.  Officers located the vehicle heading westbound on I-84 and notified Nampa Police Officers, who responded and conducted a traffic stop.  Salinas was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Canyon County Jail late Monday night.  He was transported to the Ada County Jail on Wednesday and booked under the above charges.
