Monday, June 23 - Boise Police and Boise Fire were dispatched to a water rescue near Federal Way and Findley in the New York Canal this afternoon at approximately 4:37.  A witness reported spotting a male in the water yelling for help and waving his arms.

Boise Police and a member of the Boise Fire dive rescue team located the victim in the canal west of Broadway.  A firefighter from Engine 7, a member of the Boise Fire dive rescue team entered the canal and was able to reach the victim.  Boise Police and Boise Firefighters above the canal then pulled the two to the shoreline.

Ada County Paramedics responded and took over care of the victim who was transported to a local hospital.  The victim has been identified as a male in his 50's and is believed to be a transient. Medical personnel tell officers, despite being initially unresponsive, thanks to the rescue, at this time it appears the man has a good chance of survival.
