Meth Trafficking Arrest; 2 separate ICAC Cases result in Arrests for Child Porn; BPD Weekend Watch Log

Arrested: Trina R. Abramson aka Dormier, 33, Nampa

Charged: Trafficking Methamphetamine (F)

Arrested: Angela M. Klinkhamer, 36, Caldwell

Charged: Possession of Methamphetamine (F)

Boise Police officers observed the driver of a vehicle fail to signal twice while driving in West Boise Thursday evening, June 12.  Officers made a traffic stop on the vehicle. During the stop, a Boise Police drug detection dog alerted on the vehicle indicating the likely presence of illegal drugs. During a search, officers found the driver, Abramson to be in possession of 31 grams of a substance that field tested positive for methamphetamine. A passenger in the vehicle, Klinkhamer, was found to be in possession of a small amount of meth. Both suspects were arrested on the above charges and booked into the Ada County Jail.

Arrested:  Joshua S. Fox, 23, Meridian

Charged: Distributing Sexually Exploitative Material – 12 counts (F)

Fox was arrested by Boise Police following a two month investigation that began with a tip to the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. Investigating officers gathered enough information for a search warrant, served on the suspects Boise Bench home where officers found evidence of distribution of child pornography.  The case remains under investigation.

Arrested: Bryan D. Smith, 28, Boise, also of Federal Way, WA

Charged: Sexual Exploitation of a Child – 9 counts (F)

Boise Police began investigation Smith in connection with possession of child pornography in April, 2014. A warrant was issued for the suspect’s arrest May 29. He was booked into the Ada County Jail on the above charges Friday, June 13. The case was investigated with assistance of the Seattle Police Department’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.

            The Idaho Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force is a statewide coalition of local, state and federal law enforcement and prosecution agencies, focused on apprehending and prosecuting individuals who use the Internet to criminally exploit children.
            Internet crimes against children are primarily crimes of sexual exploitation of children. These crimes include distribution of child pornography and using the Internet to target children for sexual abuse.

The Idaho ICAC Task Force is committed to protecting Idaho's children through community education and by identifying, arresting and prosecuting those who commit these crimes.

Arrested: Karen Y. Guzman, 23, Boise

Charged:  Arson (F)

Boise Firefighters responded to a fire in a residence early Sunday morning, June 15 in the area of South Curtis Road and West Cassia Street. Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the fire and kept the damage contained to one bedroom, although contents of that bedroom were heavily damaged. The fire was immediately suspected to be suspicious in nature. Investigating officers soon arrested Guzman, who is accused of intentionally starting the fire. Guzman was booked into the Ada County Jail on the above charges.

Arrested: Karen L. Reason, 58, Boise

Charged: Grand Theft (F)

A Boise Police officer on routine patrol spotted several people behind a motel on the 2500 block of South Vista Avenue at approximately 3:15 a.m. Friday, June 13. The officer saw one of the subjects getting out of a vehicle holding an open container of alcohol. A records check on the vehicle found it to be reported stolen out of Canyon County. The officer stopped and located the individuals. The officer found evidence Reason was responsible for the vehicle. She was arrested and charged with grand theft. During a search of the vehicle, several items of drug paraphernalia, including syringes and snort tubes were located and found to be in possession of Jonathan G. Tuohy, 29 of Nampa. Tuohy was arrested on misdemeanor charges of possession of drug paraphernalia.

Arrested: Gilbert F. Rojas, Jr, 27, Boise

Charged: DUI (F), Injury to a Child (m)

Boise Police patrol officers stopped a vehicle at 7:54 p.m. Saturday, June 14 near North Curtis Road and Lubkin Street for running two stop signs and failing to signal on a left turn. The driver was identified as Rojas. A young child was also in the vehicle. The officer could smell the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from Gilbert. His speech was also slow and slurred and his eyes were glassy and bloodshot.  Gilbert was arrested for DUI. A blood draw was done for further evidence testing. Gilbert was convicted of DUI in 2010 and 2011 making this DUI a felony. Because the child was in the car at the time, the suspect was also charged with Injury to Child.
