Accused drug dealer busted at night club; 2 felony DUI's; employee arrested after battering customer and officer; BPD Weekend Watch Log

Arrested: Clinton Paul Born Jr., 42, Transient

Charged: DUI (F), Driving Without Privileges (m)

A Boise Police officer on routine patrol stopped a vehicle for failing to signal as it pulled into a hotel parking lot in the 2500 block of South Vista Avenue this morning at 4:02 a.m.  After parking, the driver got out and officers noticed he had to lean against the vehicle to keep from falling.  Officers observed multiple indications that the driver, identified as Born, had been consuming alcohol.  Born performed poorly on the offered field sobriety tests, two of which had to be stopped for his safety due to his unsteadiness on his feet.  Born failed the offered breath test, providing breath samples of .213 and .208.  Born has five previous DUI convictions in the last three years making this a felony charge.  Evidence obtained during the course of the investigation revealed that Born also knew that his driver's license is currently suspended out of California.  Born was arrested and booked into the Ada County Jail for the above charges.

Arrested: Cutler J. Christensen, 18, Meridian

Charged: Possession of a Controlled Substance with the Intent to Deliver – Marijuana (F), Possession of a Controlled Substance with the Intent to Deliver – Hydrocodone (Schedule III) (F), Possession of a Controlled Substance with the Intent to Deliver – Darvocet (Schedule IV) (F), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (m)

Boise Police patrol officers were contacted by staff members of a night club near North Collister Drive and West State Street on Friday, March 28, at 11:02 p.m. for a report of possible drug sales occurring in the business.  Witnesses at the club reported that Christensen was attempting to sell marijuana.  They gave a physical and clothing description to responding officer, who quickly located Christensen when they arrived on scene.  During the course of the investigation Christensen was found to be in possession of 27 grams of marijuana in seven different packages labeled for individual sale, 24 hydrocodone pills and 27 darvocet pills, both controlled substances.  Evidence obtained during the course of the investigation indicated that Christensen was trying to sell and had sold some of the marijuana, Hydrocodone, and Darvocet.  Christensen was also found to be in possession of packaging materials including unused baggies, a digital scale with marijuana residue on it, containers with marijuana residue and odor in/on them, and a glass marijuana smoking pipe with burnt residue inside.  The residue and the marijuana all field tested positive.  Christensen was booked into the Ada County Jail on the above charges.

Arrested: Martin K. Espy, 57, Transient

Charged: Warrant – Failure to Obey, 2 Counts (F)

A Boise Police officer assigned to the Boise State University Unit was dispatched to a citizen's report of a male sleeping on the ground floor of a parking garage on the BSU Campus on Thursday, March 27, at 8:05 p.m.  The officer responded to check on the wellbeing of the individual. Upon arrival the officer observed the man, later identified as Espy sleeping next to a bottle of malt liquor.  A routine records check through dispatch revealed that Espy had two warrants for his arrest.  Espy was arrested on the warrants and booked into the Ada County Jail.

Arrested: Truc Huynh, 29, Garden City

Charged: Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer (F), Resisting and Obstructing (m)

Boise Police officers were dispatched to a report of a battery at a restaurant in the 7300 block of West State Street on Saturday, March 29, at 3:23 p.m.  Upon arrival officers spoke with the victim who reported that they were battered by Huynh, an employee at the restaurant.  The victim said they had complained about poor service, after which the suspect hit the victim in the face. Officers reported seeing physical evidence of the battery on the victim, including a bruise on the victim's jaw.  When officers attempted to speak with the suspect, Huynh, she immediately became confrontational.  When officers suggested they could speak in a more private area of the restaurant, Huynh grabbed a butter knife and stepped back into a fighting stance verbally challenging the officers.  Officers persuaded Huynh to eventually put the knife down and she was taken into custody.  After being handcuffed, Huynh continued to resist, kicking an officer twice in the leg.  Huynh was booked into the Ada County Jail on the above charges.  The original victim did not wish to press charges; however the incident remains under investigation.

Arrested: Daniel J. Land, 53, Boise

Charged: Possession of a Controlled Substance – Methamphetamine (F), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (m)

A Boise Police officer on routine patrol stopped a vehicle driving in the area of West Fairview Avenue and North Five Mile Road on Sunday, March 30, at 10:44 pm. for having a cancelled registration.  A Boise Police K9 alerted on the vehicle.  Upon search of the vehicle, Land, the driver and sole occupant, was found to be in possession of one gram of what appeared to be methamphetamine and a glass methamphetamine pipe with white and black residue.  The methamphetamine field tested positive.  Land was arrested and booked into the Ada County Jail for the above charges.

Arrested: Joshua R. McIver, 34, Meridian

Charged: Burglary (F)

Boise Police officers were dispatched to a convenience store in the 7300 block of West Franklin Road on Saturday, March 29, at 11:55 a.m. for a report of a theft.  Upon arrival officers spoke with witnesses who reported that McIver entered the business and chose merchandise from the store including a box of wine and a soda. Witnesses told officers McIver then took the merchandise into the men’s room, where he consumed the items.  McIver did not have any means to pay for the items he’d consumed.  Evidence obtained during the course of the investigation indicated that McIver intended to consume the items without paying for them when he entered the store, making this a felony charge.  McIver was arrested and booked into the Ada County Jail on the above charge.

Arrested: Jamie A. Roper, 54, Boise

Charged: Possession of a Controlled Substance – Methamphetamine (F), Warrant – Contempt of Court (m), Possession of a Controlled Substance – Marijuana (m), Driving Without Privileges (m), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (m), Carrying a Concealed Weapon (m)

A Boise Police two officer unit on routine patrol stopped a vehicle for making a wide turn in the area of West Fairview Avenue and South 27th Street on Saturday, March 29, at 11:13 p.m.  The driver was identified as Roper.  A records check revealed that Roper had a warrant for her arrest and that her driver’s license is currently suspended.  Roper was arrested and subsequently found to be in possession of two snort tubes commonly used for methamphetamine.  With the assistance of a Boise Police Drug Detection K9, Roper was also found to be in possession of a knife with a six inch fixed blade which was concealed from view inside Roper’s car, well within the reach of someone sitting in the driver’s seat. The knife was in a sheath which contained a small baggy containing one gram of methamphetamine (total package weight).  Also located was a glass methamphetamine pipe, and a small wrapper that contained one gram of marijuana (total package weight).  The methamphetamine and marijuana both field tested positive.  Roper was arrested and booked into the Ada County Jail on the above listed charges.

Arrested: Rebecca A. Stankiewicz, 33, Nampa

Charged: Warrant – Probation Violation (F), Warrant – Probation Violation (m), DUI (m), False Personation (m)

Boise Police officers were dispatched to the area of North Cloverdale Road and West Ustick Road for a citizen's report of a suspected drunk driver on Sunday, March 30, at 2:51 a.m.  Officers quickly located the vehicle and made contact with the driver, who identified herself with what officers soon found was a false name and social security number.  During the course of their investigation officers were able to correctly identify Stankiewicz, and discover that she had two outstanding warrants for her arrest.  Stankiewicz failed the offered field sobriety tests.  Because officers suspected that she was under the influence of prescription medication, officers drew blood and sent it to the Idaho State Lab for testing.  Rebecca was arrested and booked into the Ada County Jail for the above charges.

Arrested: Peter F. Zimmermann (aka Zimmerman), 60, Boise

Charged: DUI (F)

A Boise Police patrol officer stopped a vehicle with one headlight out near West Cassia Street and South Shayne Drive on Sunday, March 30, at 1:00 a.m.  Officers identified the driver as Zimmermann and observed signs and symptoms that Zimmermann had been consuming alcohol.  Zimmermann failed the offered field sobriety tests and a subsequent breath test, providing breath samples of .153 and .159.  Zimmermann has two prior DUI convictions in the last ten years making this a felony charge.  Zimmermann was arrested and booked into the Ada County Jail for the above charge.
