Boise Police were dispatched to a report of shots fired at a residence on the 2300 block of South Pheasant Lane Sunday afternoon. The caller reported that two people were attempting to meet with an individual who lives in one of the residences on the property when their vehicle became stuck in mud. as they were trying to get their vehicle unstuck, victims told officers they were approached by the suspect who threatened them. The suspect reportedly returned a short time later with a shotgun and fired it twice into the ground. Both victims say they feared they were in danger. Officers contacted the suspect who was cooperative. He was taken into custody without incident. Officers booked him into the Ada County Jail on the above charge.

It shall be unlawful to discharge: A. Any firearm except at a regularly established shooting gallery or range licensed and authorized by Boise City Code; provided that this Section shall not be construed to prohibit any officer of the law from discharging a firearm in the performance of his duty nor to any citizen from discharging a firearm or other dangerous or deadly weapon when lawfully defending person or property.

Boise Police officers responded to a convenience store in the 8900 block of West Overland Road on Thursday, January 30, at 12:47 p.m. for a report of a theft. Responding officers spoke with staff and other witnesses who reported that and male and a female suspect entered the store and while the male distracted the store staff, the female concealed several items in a bag, then walked out without paying for the items. Witnesses supplied officers with a license plate which returned to a vehicle registered to Jeff Hart. Officers located Jeff and Amber, who are married, and took them into custody. Information uncovered during the course of the investigation revealed that Jeff and Amber had entered the store with the intent to commit the theft, making these charges a felony.

Boise Police officers were dispatched to a report of a theft at a retail store in the 8300 block of West Overland Road on Thursday, January 30, at 1:53 p.m. Upon arrival officers spoke with store employees who witnessed Balcirak conceal a set of head phones in his pants then leave the store, walking past all points of sale without attempting to pay for the merchandise. Evidence uncovered during the investigation revealed that Balcirak had entered the store with the intent to steal the merchandise, making this a felony charge. Upon search incident to arrest, officers located a one gram baggie of marijuana (total package weight), and a red metal pipe with burnt residue in it. The marijuana and the burnt residue both field tested positive for marijuana. Balcirak was arrested and booked into the Ada County Jail on the above charges.

Boise Police officers responded to the area of North Milwaukee Street and West Fairview Avenue on Saturday, February 1, at 1:53 a.m. for a report of an aggravated battery and theft that had occurred in the area of West Fairview Avenue and North Five Mile Road. Upon arrival officers located and interviewed the victim while waiting for paramedics to arrive to assess his injuries. The victim told officers that three suspects stole a tip jar from his business located on the 10200 block of West Fairview Avenue. The victim says he confronted one of the suspects, Behrens, who forcefully pushed him, got into a large white diesel truck with the two other suspects. As the truck drove off at a high speed east bound on Fairview, the victim jumped into the bed of the truck. The victim says he yelled at the suspects to give him back his tip jar. The suspects then pulled over near the area of North Milwaukee Road and West Fairview Avenue, where, according to the victim, two of the suspects, Lopez and Maas, attacked him, hitting him in the head several times with a rock and chocking him with his own sweater. Multiple witnesses were identified at the original scene of the theft and were helpful to officers in identifying the victim and relating what happened.
After an extensive search, officer’s located the suspect's vehicle on the 800 block of South Curtis Road. The suspects were arrested and booked into the Ada County Jail on the above charges.
Arrested: Jadon R. Johnson, 18, Boise
Charged: Possession of Marijuana (F)
A Boise Police officer on routine patrol observed a vehicle fail to signal a lane change in the area of West Fairview Avenue and North Liberty Street on Saturday, February 1, at 8:23 p.m. The officer stopped the vehicle and made contact with the driver, Johnson. While speaking with Johnson, the officer could smell the strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. Information obtained during the investigation led to officer’s finding Johnson to be in possession of 4.05 ounces of marijuana (total package weight), making the possession a felony charge. Johnson was arrested and booked into the Ada County Jail on the above charge.
ISC 37-2732(e) – If any person is found to possess marijuana, which for the purposes of this subsection shall be restricted to all parts of the plants of the genus Cannabis, including the extract or any preparation of cannabis which contains tetrahydrocannabinol, in an amount greater than three (3) ounces net weight, it shall be a felony and upon conviction may be imprisoned for not more than five (5) years, or fined not more than ten thousand dollars ($10,000), or both.

Boise Police officers on patrol stopped a vehicle for not having a front license plate in the area of South Maple Grove Road and West Hackamore Drive on Friday, January 31, at 12:11 p.m. The driver, Lewis W. Lowery of Nampa was arrested for misdemeanor charges of driving without privileges, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. During the course of their investigation, Mecham was found to be in possession of a concealed buck knife with a seven inch blade. Upon search incident to arrest, 1.5 grams of methamphetamine (total package weight), three straws with powder inside, a bent spoon, and two hypodermic needles were also found in Mecham’s possession. Mecham was arrested and booked into the Ada County Jail on the above charges.
Arrested: Daniel W. Rix, 52, Boise
Charged: Obtain a Controlled Substance by Fraud (F)
Boise Police officers were dispatched to an area hospital on Friday, January 31, at 6:42 p.m. regarding a male suspect, Rix, trying to get prescription narcotics. Witnesses told officers that Rix had identified himself to hospital staff by a name that wasn’t his and gave three different social security numbers. When the doctor reportedly told Rix he was going to prescribe a non-narcotic pain medication, witnesses say Rix requested Dilaudid, a schedule II drug. An investigation revealed that Rix attempted to use a false identity to fraudulently obtain a schedule II drug. Rix was arrested and booked into the Ada County Jail on the above charge.

Boise Police officers responded to a residence in the 2200 block of North Liberty Street on Saturday, February 1, at 6:06 p.m. to serve two warrants for Sargent. Officers responded, but Sargent had fled and was actively hiding from them. Officers were able to locate Sargent with the help of Boise Police K9 units. Sargent was arrested and booked into the Ada County Jail on the above charges.
Arrested: Richard L. Smith, 46, Boise
Charged: Warrant - Grand Theft (F)
Boise Police officers responded to a residence near East Aphrodite Drive and South Pegasus Way on Friday, January 31 at 9:50 a.m. to find Richard, and serve him with an arrest warrant for grand theft. Boise Police detectives, after a thorough investigation, were able to obtain the warrant reference the theft of an automobile from an east foothills home November 24, 2013. Richard was arrested and booked into the Ada County Jail without incident.
