Boise, January 6, 2013, 9:30 a.m. - Boise Police are investigating what happened to cause a bus to crash into the Idaho Power building downtown this morning. Approximately one dozen people were on the bus at the time. Fortunately no one was seriously injured. The bus stopped hanging precariously over a underground parking garage.

What Happened: Boise Police and Firefighters were called at 6:33 this morning to the crash on the corner of South 13th and West Main Streets. When they arrived, they found a Valley Ride bus had crashed into the Idaho Power building on the southeast corner of the intersection. The bus stopped after it hit a column just above an underground parking area. 010614 Bus 1

Investigating officers say the bus driver reports losing control as the bus headed north on 13th. The bus hit several trees and a light pole before hitting the building and coming to a stop.

One woman taken to the hospital: Between 10 and 12 people including the male driver were on the bus at the time. One woman reportedly complaining of pain was taken to a nearby hospital. Her condition did not appear life threatening.

Structural damage: As a precaution, firefighters evacuated a cafeteria directly above the portion of the building that was damaged in the crash. Firefighters, working with Idaho Power say, at this time structural damage to the building does not appear serious.

Investigation: Boise Police, with the assistance of Idaho State Police  continue to investigate. No citations have been issued at this time.

Currently one lane of 13th Street and one lane of Main Street are restricted to allow for the investigation and cleanup of debris.
