Quick call by the victim helps officer track a vehicle burglary suspect; traffic stops end in two meth arrests; BPD Weekend Incident Report

Arrested: Michael D. Aitchison, 35, Caldwell

Charged: Controlled Substance Violation - Meth (F), Prescription in other than original container 

Boise Police were called by an Ada County Sheriff's deputy who had just made a traffic stop on South Cole and West Ustick Roads Sunday, November 17th at 10:46 p.m. Boise officers were told the deputy had placed the suspect, Aitchison under arrest for several charges including driving with an invalid drivers license and possession of drug paraphernalia. A Boise Police K9 named Jackson alerted to the odor of narcotics inside the vehicle. Officers searched the suspect's vehicle and found him to be in possession of a two baggies containing approximately one gram each of a white crystal substance that field tested positive for methamphetamine, and approximately ten pills identified as Carisoprodol, a prescription painkiller and a schedule IV prescription drug that did not have a prescription with it. The suspect was booked into the Ada County Jail on the above charges by Boise Police. Additional charges were filed by Ada County.

Arrested: Shawn D. Bernhardt, 22, Boise

Charged: Burglary (F)

Boise Police were called by a man who reported he had just seen someone rummaging through the inside of his pickup truck parked in the driveway of his home near North Mitchell Street and West Cory Lane Sunday night, November 17th, shortly before 11:00 p.m. The victim was able to provide officers with a good description of what the suspect looked like and was wearing. A few minutes later officers spotted a man who matched the suspect description walking a short distance from where the crime was reported. Further investigation by Boise Police patrol officers and property crimes detectives found evidence the suspect had entered the victim's truck with the intention of stealing items inside. The suspect was identified as Bernhardt and booked into the Ada County Jail on the above charges.

Arrested: Shane D. Chavers, 43, Boise

Charged: Controlled Substance Violation - Meth (F), Possession of drug paraphernalia (m)

A Boise Police officer on patrol witnessed the driver of a car pull out of a gas station and cut across all lanes of traffic into a far turn lane without using a turn signal. The violation occurred Sunday night about 10:30 p.m. near West Ustick and North Maple Grove Roads. The officer stopped the vehicle. The driver, identified as Chavers, was not cooperative and refused officer's commands to keep his hands where the officer could see them. A consent search of the suspect found him to be in possession of a glass smoking pipe containing a white crystalline substance which field tested positive for methamphetamine. A Boise Police drug detection K9, Jackson alerted to the odor of narcotics inside the vehicle. In a subsequent search, officers located additional drug paraphernalia. Officers arrested the suspect on the above charges and booked him into the Ada County Jail.

Arrested: Frank C. Davis, 47, Boise

Charged: Burglary (F)

Boise Police were called by witnesses to a theft that had just occurred at a retail store on the 1500 block of West State Street Friday morning, November 15th about 9:00 a.m. Witnesses told officers a man walked into the store and left with two 30-packs of beer without paying. Store managers wished to prosecute if the suspect could be found. One responding officer had just seen a man walking on Americana Blvd. who matched the suspect description. Another officer responded to that area and found the suspect still carrying the two cases of beer. Further investigation found the suspect had entered the store with the intention of committing the theft. He was arrested and booked into the Ada County Jail on the above charges.

Arrested: Kristina Smith-McSweeney, 31, Boise

Charged: Burglary (F)

Boise Police were called by employees of a convenience store on the 4100 block of South Broadway Avenue Sunday afternoon. Witnesses were able to give officers a good description of a woman who was seen leaving the store carrying several items without paying. Officers located the suspect a short distance away walking westbound. Further investigation found she had entered the store with the intention of committing the theft. She was arrested on felony burglary charge and booked into the Ada County Jail.

Arrested: Damion L. White, 18, Boise

Charged: Grand Theft (F), resisting and obstructing officers (m)

Boise Police, working with Garden City Police arrested the suspect Friday night, November 15th on the 3900 block of Patton Street after he was seen in a vehicle reported stolen in Boise the previous day. The suspect was arrested following a short foot pursuit that, according to a news release by Garden City Police, left on officer with minor injuries. The suspect was arrested on the above charges. The investigation is continuing.
