Arrested: Dustin L. Davis,24, Ontario, OR

Charged: Burglary (F), Resisting and obstructing officers

Boise Police were called by employees to a store on the 8300 block of W. Overland Road last night shortly after 7:00 p.m. for a reported shoplifter. Witnesses reported to police dispatchers the suspect was seen taking electronic items from the store without paying. When store employees tried to stop the man, he physically struggled with them then ran. Witnesses were able to give officers a good description of the suspect. A patrol officer in the area stopped to ask several citizens nearby if they had seen the suspect. The citizens said they had and pointed the officer south on S. Milwaukee Street. The officer soon spotted the suspect who again ran as the officer was continually identifying himself as being with Boise Police and ordering the suspect to stop. The suspect ran onto a lot with several buildings on it and tried to jump a fence but was unsuccessful. As the suspect ran behind one of the buildings, the officer caught up with him and took him into custody. He was booked into the Ada County Jail on the above charges.

Shoplifting is a crime that has a major impact on the Boise business community. The Boise Police Department’s Organized Retail Crime Unit has developed a positive, productive working relationship with loss prevention agents from many local retail stores, large and small, local and national chains. The goal of the unit is to work with retailers and the Boise business community to reduce retail theft and fraud, crimes that have significant impacts on consumer prices.
