Citizen report of a passed out driver leads to third DUI arrest; Weekend incident report

    Arrested: Robert S. Vanhulle, 43, Beaverton, MI

    Charges: Driving Under the Influence (DUI)(F)

   Boise Police responded to a citizen report of a man passed out behind the wheel of a running vehicle in a parking lot outside a bar on the 3900 block of West Overland Road early this morning, September 9th, at approximately 3:30 a.m. Officers found the man behind the wheel with his seat belt and headlights on. The vehicle was still running. Officers woke the driver and noted a strong odor of alcohol when the driver opened the door. The suspect, who appeared to be very intoxicated at the time, failed several field sobriety tests and blew a .26/.26 at the Ada County Jail. A check through Boise City Records indicated the suspect had two prior convictions for DUI, making this charge a felony. The suspect was booked at the Ada County Jail on the above listed charges.

   Arrested: Jeremy D. Griffin, 35, Boise

   Charges: Burglary (F)

    Boise Police responded to a report of a theft that had taken place at a utility trailer on the 1600 block of Leadville Avenue Saturday, September 7th. The victim tells police he had a utility trailer on the property containing a compressor and other items. According to the victim the trailer had been broken into and the compressor was taken some time over the last two months. During the course of the investigation officers obtained evidence that indicates the suspect, who is known to the victim, had taken the compressor and sold it. After a detailed investigation the suspect was transported to the Ada County Jail and booked on the above listed charges.

TITLE 18 CRIMES AND PUNISHMENTS CHAPTER 14 BURGLARY 18-1401. Burglary defined. Every person who enters any house, room, apartment, tenement, shop, warehouse, store, mill, barn, stable, outhouse, or other building, tent, vessel, vehicle, trailer, airplane or railroad car, with intent to commit any theft or any felony, is guilty of burglary.

    Arrested: Thomas R. Orr, 37, Boise

    Charges: Possession of a Controlled Substance (Meth)(F), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (m)

   Boise Police on patrol Saturday morning, September 7th, at approximately 6:30 a.m. received a citizens report of a man passed out behind the wheel of a vehicle on the 12000 block of West Goldenrod Avenue. Officers located the vehicle and woke the driver. The suspect consented to a search of the vehicle and officers located two small baggies containing a small amount of meth. Officers also recovered items used to smoke meth and other illegal substances. The suspect was booked at the Ada County Jail on the above listed charges.

  Arrested: Debra K. Hudson, 54, Boise

   Charges: Burglary (F)

   Boise Police responded to a report of a theft at a retail store on the 100 block of East Myrtle Street Saturday evening, September 7th, at approximately 5:40 p.m. Store employees tell police that they witnessed the suspect select several makeup items, remove them from the packaging and conceal them before leaving the store. Loss prevention employees detained the suspect until police arrived. Officers believe the suspect entered the store with the intent to commit the theft resulting in the burglary charge. The suspect was transported to the Ada County Jail and booked on the above listed charges.

   The Boise Police Department has developed a positive, productive working relationship with loss prevention agents from many local retail stores, large and small, local and national chains. The goal of the program is to work with retailers and the Boise business community to reduce retail theft and fraud, crimes that have significant impacts on consumer prices.
