Witnesses catch vehicle burglary suspect in the act; Daily incident report

   Arrested: Raymond D. Smith, No Known Address

   Charges: Burglary (F)

   Warrant Charges: Failure to Appear charges (F)

    Boise Police responded to a report of a vehicle burglary that had taken place in a parking lot on the 9100 block of West Barnes Drive yesterday afternoon, August 22nd, at approximately 2:00 p.m. Multiple witnesses tell police the suspect, later identified as Raymond Smith, was seen inside the victim's vehicle. A witness approached the suspect and observed the suspect with items from the car in his hands. When the witness confronted the suspect, he dropped the items in the car and left on foot. Officers located the suspect a short time later at a store on Five Mile and Overland. A check through Boise City Records indicated the suspect had a warrant for his arrest on Failure to Appear charges. After a detailed investigation, the suspect was transported to the Ada County Jail and booked on the above listed charges.

    Charges: Possession of a Controlled Substance (Prescription Medications)(F)

    Arrested: Austin W. Heinonen, 18, Meridian

    Charges: Possession of a Controlled Substance (Marijuana)(m), Carrying a Concealed Weapon (m)

   Boise Police on patrol observed a vehicle following too close with an obstructed windshield near West Sedona Street and Steamboat Way last night, August 22nd, at approximately 6:30 p.m. As officers contacted the driver, Austin Heinonen, and the passenger, Neil Bullock, they could smell the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. A search of the vehicle and the suspect's person revealed a concealed knife and approximately 2 grams of marijuana. Officers also recovered plastic baggies containing Hydrocodone and Hydrochloride pills that the suspect did not have documentation for. The suspects were booked at the Ada County Jail on the above listed charges.
