Boise Police would like to thank the public and the media for helping identify the child found alone in a Boise retail store earlier this evening. Immediately following tonights media coverage of the incident the childs legal guardians contacted police.
The family tells police a mixup between family members resulted in a situation in which two parties both believed the other had taken the child. At this time the boy is home with family members and no charges will be filed in this case.

Boise Police investigators want your help identifying a child who was found at a local store this evening.
What Happened: Employees at a retail store on the 8300 block of West Overland Road tell police the child was found in the store unattended at approximately 6:00 p.m. this evening. Employees attempted to locate a responsible guardian for the child, including paging and a physical search, but were unsuccessful.
Employees called police who responded to the store at approximately 6:30 p.m. and began an extensive search for a guardian. During the course of the investigation, officers obtained a photo of the person who entered the store with the child and purchased items, then left the store more than an hour later without the boy. Officers obtained a photograph of the vehicle the adult may have left in. The child does not know where he lives.
Description: The boy tells police he is four years old. Kai appears to be of Asian descent and is approximately two and a half feet tall. He was wearing a blue and black tank top with white shorts that have green and purple markings. Kai has grey sneakers on and is wearing a silver colored necklace. The child appears to be in good health and good spirits. (See photo)
Caregiver description: The caregiver appears to be an older adult female, possibly Asian in descent, wearing a blue top with short sleeves. (See photo)
Vehicle Description: The caregiver was seen leaving the parking lot of the store in a dark colored smaller sized SUV that may have Idaho license plates. (See Photo)
