Aggravated Battery cases top weekend arrests; Weekend incident report

   Arrested: Mark A. Villarreal, 27, Meridian

   Charges: Aggravated Battery (F)

    Boise Police received a report of an aggravated battery that had taken place on the 2500 block of South Stanley Street Sunday night, March 10th, at approximately 9:40 p.m. The victim tells police the suspect, who had been trespassed from his property earlier that day, struck him with a car as he was standing near the mailbox. The victim was injured in the incident. Officers located in the vehicle a block from the residence. The victim was transported to a local hospital with what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries at the time. After a detailed investigation into the incident the suspect was transported to the Ada County Jail and booked on the above listed charges.

   Arrested: Eben T. Wasserman, 40, Boise

   Charges: Aggravated Battery (F)

    Boise Police responded to a report of a battery in progress at a residence on the 6000 block of West Elkhorn Avenue Friday, March 8th, at approximately 11:30 a.m. Witnesses tell police the suspect, who is well known to the victim, attacked the victim in his front yard as part of an ongoing dispute between the two men. At one point, witnesses say the suspect struck the victim in the head with the victim's cane causing cuts. The suspect and the victim were still at the residence when officers arrived. After a detailed investigation the suspect was transported to the Ada County Jail and booked on the above listed charges.

    Arrested: Shawn D. Mcfarlane, 44, Boise

    Charges: Rape (F)

    Boise Police arrested the suspect Friday, March 8th, after a detailed investigation into allegations of illegal sexual contact that took place on March 2nd of this year. The victim, a juvenile under the age of 17, tells detectives the conduct took place at a Boise business. The suspect is known to the victim and officers have no reason at this time to believe other victims are involved. The investigation into this case continues. No further information is available. Further inquires into this case should be directed to the Ada County Prosecuting Attorney's Office.

18-6101. (2) Rape defined. Rape is defined as the penetration, however slight, of the oral, anal or vaginal opening with the perpetrator's penis accomplished with a female under any one (1) of the following circumstances: (2)Where the female is sixteen (16) or seventeen (17) years of age and the perpetrator is three (3) years or more older than the female.

   Arrested: Gabriel G. Mata, 34, Boise

   Charges: 3 counts of Trafficking in a Controlled Substance (Meth)(F), 2 counts of Trafficking in a Controlled Substance (Marijuana)(F)

   Arrested: Lester M. Ortiz-Lopez, 23, Boise

   Charges: Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver (Meth)(F), Trafficking in a Controlled Substance (Marijuana)(F)

    Boise Police Narcotics Detectives arrested Gabriel Mata and Lester Ortiz-Lopez Saturday, March 9th, as part of an ongoing investigation into the trafficking of meth and marijuana. Detectives have evidence that indicates the suspects were involved in the sale of illegal substances on more than one occasion over the last six months. The arrest comes after a detailed investigation by Boise Police Narcotics Detectives. Further inquiry into this case should be directed to the Ada County Prosecuting Attorney's Office. 

About BANDIT: The Boise Police BANDIT Task Force investigates illegal drug sales and trafficking, as well as gambling and prostitution. Detectives with B.A.N.D.I.T. (Boise Area Narcotics and Drug Interdiction Task Force), are commissioned to protect the community from illegal activity.

    Arrested: Lyjah W. Armstrong, 18, Boise

    Charges: Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver (Meth)(F), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (m), Warrant for Petit Larceny (m), Warrant for Failure to Appear (m)

    Arrested: Patricia L. Cochran, 24, Boise

    Charges: Possession of a Controlled Substance (Meth)(F), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (m)

   Boise Police on patrol early Sunday morning, March 10th, at approximately 1:00 a.m. observed a vehicle fail to stop at a stop sign and conducted a traffic stop near West Fairview Avenue and North Cole Road. As officers contacted the occupants, a Boise Police K-9 alerted on the vehicle indicating the likely presence of drugs. Officers recovered numerous items of drug paraphernalia including pipes and hypodermic needles from the vehicle and suspect's persons. Officers also located 7 baggies of Meth. During the investigation officers determined that Lyjah Armstrong had two warrants for his arrest on Petit Larceny and Failure to Appear charges. The suspects were booked at the Ada County Jail on the above listed charges.

   Warrant Arrested: Monique E. Barnard, 20, Boise 

   Warrant Charges: Robbery (F)

     The suspect was taken into custody on an outstanding felony warrant for Robbery yesterday.

    The arrest warrant stems from an ongoing investigation into a report of a robbery that took place at a residence in the North End in February of this year. During a confrontation the victim tells police his phone and a small amount of cash by were taken from him by force. Evidence indicates the suspect was involved in the incident. That investigative information was forwarded to the Ada County Prosecuting Attorney's Office and resulted in the felony warrant. Further inquiries into this case should be directed to the Ada County Prosecuting Attorney's Office.

   Arrested: Romero D. Soliz, 19, Boise

   Charges: Burglary (F), Minor in Possession of Alcohol (m), Resisting and Obstructing (m)

    Boise Police responded to a report of a theft at a convenience store on the 700 block of North Garden Street Friday evening, March 8th, at approximately 7:30 p.m. Employees tell police the suspect, who appeared to be intoxicated at the time, selected two twelve packs of beer and two bottles of liquor before running out of the store. Officers caught the suspect after a short foot pursuit in the back yard of a residence. The suspect was transported to the Ada County Jail and booked on the above listed charges.
