UPDATE: Aggravated Assault Charge
Boise, Feb. 20, 2013, 10:35 am - Boise Police have charged the suspect in a possible road age incident with an additional charge of felony aggravated assault. The assault charge stems from evidence the suspect fire a shot into the maroon car after he initially rear-ended at Vista & Canal Monday night at approximately 8:10 p.m. The shot went through a driver's side window into the maroon vehicle but did not injure the driver.
The suspect vehicle was then seen driving at a high rate of speed south on Vista toward I-84. The victim continued driving also toward the freeway, west to the Franklin Road exit, where he exited, drove to his place of employement on Franklin Rd. The victim from the Vista & Canal then called 911 to report that incident.
This is all the information that is available for release at this time. The investigation continues. The suspect, Shawn N. Disher is due to be arraigned on this and the charges listed below later today.
UPDATE: Suspect Arrest; Person of Interest identified
Boise, Feb. 19, 2013, 4:20 p.m. - Boise Police have arrested a man in connection with an incident that occurred last night at the intersection of S. Vista Ave and W. Canal Street.
The suspect in that crime was arrested shortly after 11:00 p.m. last night outside a home near S. Cole and W. Amity Roads.
He is also a person of interest in the ongoing homicide investigation reference the incident last night on W. Franklin Road.
Arrested: Shawn N. Fisher, 35, Boise
Charged: Aggravated Battery (F), Kicking a Police Dog (m)
What Happened: The Aggravated Battery charge stems from an incident that occurred at 8:10 last night when the driver of a small, white sedan reportedly rear-ended a maroon sedan in the left-hand turn lane of westbound W. Canal St at Vista Ave. Witnesses tell officers the driver of the white car then turned south on Vista and was last seen driving at a high rate of speed toward Interstate 84.
At approximately 8:35 p.m., emergency dispatchers received a call from a homeowner in the 5100 block of Umatilla who reported a man outside their home yelling and threatening to hurt them. Ada County Sheriff's deputies responded and found a white Geo Prism parked nearby.
Officers found evidence to suggest the vehicle was likely the same one involved in the hit-and-run at Vista and Canal. The suspect was no longer at the home but appeared to have left on foot. Ada County Sheriff's Deputies immediately set up a perimeter and began searching for Fisher. Officers from Kuna, Eagle, Meridian and Boise Police Departments also responded to assist.
Dispatchers began receiving numerous calls from homeowners to the west reporting a man going door-to-door, attempting to get inside various houses and vehicles.
A Boise Police K9, Diesel, and his handler tracked the suspect to the 5000 block of S. Cole, between Snohomish and Colt where they found the 35-year-old hiding in the backyard of an unoccupied daycare.
Officers could see the suspect, now identified as Fisher was armed with a gun. The man refused to comply with officers' commands multiple times. A Taser and the K9 were deployed to help take the combative suspect into custody shortkly after 11:00 p.m. Fisher was transported by ambulance to St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center for treatment of a dog bite. He was booked at 6:21 a.m. this morning on the above charges.
Search for Evidence: There is some information linking the hit and run at Canal and Vista, the homicide on Franklin Rd. and the suspect. However at this time, the suspect faces only the above listed charges. The investigation continues.
Officers advise citizens at any of the three locations; Canal and Vista, Franklin Rd. just east of Benjamin Ln. and in the neighborhood southeast of Cole & Amity that they are still searching for additional possible evidence including:
- a cell phone
- discarded ammunition from a handgun
- private security video that may show the suspect or related activity
If a citizen locates a cell phone, what appears to be discarded ammunition from a handgun or has private security video that may be helpful to the investigation they're urged to call non-emergency dispatch at 377-6790.

- involving the male driver of a white Chevy Prism, now identified as Shawn Fisher
- beginning about 8:10p.m. in the intersection of S. Vista Ave and W. Canal Street
- possibly proceeding westbound on I-84 from Vista to Franklin Rd.
- involving an incident that occurred at approximately 8:25 p.m. in the westbound lanes of W. Franklin Rd just east of Benjamin Lane

Boise, Feb. 19, 2013, 12:10 p.m. - The Ada County Coroner has just confirmed the man found by passersby seriously injured inside a vehicle stopped on Franklin Rd last night is the victim of an apparent gunshot wound to the head. The cause of death has been ruled a homicide.
The victim has been identified by the Coroner as Matthew Mohler-Kerns, 28 of Boise. The coroner's report says Mohler-Kerns was transported to St Alphonsus Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at 9:56 p.m.
The Boise Police investigation into Mohler-Kern's death continues.
Boise, Feb. 19, 2013, 9:34 a.m. - Boise Police are asking for witnesses in a series of what may be reckless driving or possible road rage that began on Vista Ave, continued down the Interstate to Franklin Road and resulted in a person of interest being taken into custody in south Boise.
- One man was found with serious injuries inside a vehicle in the westbound lane on Franklin Rd.
- He died. His death is suspicious and believed to be the result of foul play.
- Boise Police have a person of interest in custody.

The person of interest was taken into custody at approximately 10:30 last night in a neighborhood near S. Cole and W. Amity Roads.

Suspicious Death Investigation; Incident on Franklin Rd.
Boise, Feb 19, 2013, 12:03am - Boise Police are investigating a death that appears to involve foul play. The victim was in a vehicle found stopped in a westbound lane of W. Franklin Rd just east of Benjamin Lane. On scene officers found evidence of a shot fired.
What Happened: The initial call came from a passerby shortly after 8:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 18, who reported a man who appeared to be injured inside the vehicle. Ada County EMS arrived to assist, recognized suspicious circumstances and called for Boise Police to respond.
At this time, although the incident remains under active investigation, there is no evidence citizens are in ongoing danger. Additional details will be released as soon the investigation allows.
