Suspect: Bryan K. Jacobs, 36, Nampa

Charged: Grand Theft (F), Burglary (F), Aggravated Assault with a deadly weapon (F), Resisting & Obstructing officers (m), Agents Warrant (F)

Boise Police were called by several witnesses early yesterday morning reporting a man being chased by another man in a parking lot on the 7200 block of W. Colonial Street in West Boise.  While officers were on their way, witnesses told police dispatchers the suspect had gotten into a Jeep and had a knife. Officers arrived moments later, located the suspect, later identified as Jacobs, inside the Jeep and ordered him to come out. The suspect repeatedly refused officers commands and instead struggled with officers. Officers deployed a Taser which allowed them to take Jacobs into custody.

As officers continued to investigate, they found the chase began when a man saw the suspect Jacobs rummaging around in his car and confronted him. According to witnesses, Jacobs pulled a knife on the car owner and began chasing him when officers were able to interrupt the chase.

Officers then found  a car parked next to the victim's car had been reported stolen earlier yesterday morning from an apartment complex near W. Fairview Ave and N. Allumbaugh St. In that case, the victim said the car had been left open and the keys inside when it was taken. When officers located the vehcile, inside they found evidence linking Jacobs to the theft of that vehicle. Jacobs was arrested, treated and released by medical personnel following the Taser deployment, and booked into the Ada County Jail on the above charges.
