UPDATE: Campus Garage Fires Investigated as Arson

Oct. 23, 2012 - Boise Police arson investigators say fires set earlier this month on top of a Boise State parking garage appear to be arson. Officers are asking citizens and the campus community to be alert and to call Crime Stoppers if they have any information about who may be responsible.

What Happened: Firefighters were called to the top level of the Lincoln Parking Garage at Lincoln Ave. and University Drive Thursday morning, October 11th at 6:45. Firefighters quickly put out the flames limiting damage to the two vehicles.

Investigators found two separate fires, apparently intentionally set to two vehicles parked a short distance from each other. Both cars were heavily damaged.

Three trash cans have been found on fire in or near the Lincoln Garage within the past week, including two this morning. It is unknown at this time if the incidents are connected.

"We are still developing leads in this case. Folks in the campus community need to be aware what's going on and any information anyone can provide, whether it's watching for suspicioius activity or reporting something they may have already seen could be really helpful," said Det. Jeff Dustin of the Boise Police Property Crimes Unit.

Crime Stoppers: Officers ask anyone with information on this incident to contact Crime Stoppers at 343-COPS, or log onto www.343cops.com, or text CRIMES or 274637, subject: Tip236. A citizen can remain anonymous. A reward of up to $1,000 is offered by Crime Stoppers for information leading to the arrest of criminal suspects.
