Suspect's dangerous driving causes 3 car crash on Vista; Daily incident report

Arrested: Christopher R. Boeller, 49, Boise

Charges: Aggravated Assault (F), Aggravated Battery (F), Eluding (F), Possession of a Controlled Substance (METH)(F), Driving Under the Influence (DUI)(m), Resisting and Obstructing (m), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (m)

Boise Police responded to a citizen call of a possible drunk driver northbound on Vista at Targee Street yesterday, August 9th, at approximately 5:00 p.m. The calling party indicated the suspect vehicle was swerving across the road and nearly striking other vehicles. Officers located the suspect vehicle, a red Honda passenger car, stopped in the road with a flat tire at Vista and Kootenai Streets backing up traffic. As the vehicle began to drive northbound, the officer pulled in behind the car and activated his emergency lights. The suspect refused to yield to the officer and continued driving as the officer activated his siren. The suspect continued to ignore the officer, swerving across both lanes and driving erratically.

At one point, the suspect swerved across two lanes, accelerated, and drove directly at a bicyclist. Fortunately, the suspect struck the curb with the flat tire before he could reach the bike rider. Officers believe the suspect intended to strike the bicyclist, but the curb and the flat tire prevented the vehicle from reaching him. Due to the suspect’s actions, and fearing for the safety of the public, officers initiated a PIT maneuver as the suspect rounded the curve below the railroad tracks. The suspect's vehicle was not disabled and the suspect managed to drive across the median into oncoming traffic. The suspect rapidly accelerated and struck a jeep. The suspect still refused to stop and drove into oncoming traffic before striking an SUV which was stopped at the time. Witnesses say the suspect drove directly at the SUV, intentionally hitting the vehicle head on.

The suspect refused to obey officer’s commands as he was taken into custody by physically resisting arrest. Officers located a pipe with Meth residue on the suspect's person. Officers also located empty beer bottles in the vehicle. The suspect was transported to a local hospital with what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries. No one else was transported. The suspect, who appeared to be under the influence of some type of intoxicating substance, was transported to a local hospital with what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries at the time. A blood draw was performed for later evidentiary testing. Because the suspect was transported to the hospital for treatment, he has not been booked into the Ada County Jail yet.

Officers investigating the incident would like to ask the individual who was riding the bicycle yesterday afternoon during the incident to please contact police.

Warrant Arrested: Henok H. Abadi, Salt Lake City Utah

   Warrant Charges:  Forgery (F)

The suspect was transferred from Utah to the Ada County Jail on an outstanding felony warrant for Forgery yesterday.

The arrest warrant stems from an ongoing investigation into a check presented at a local bank used to obtain more than $400.00 in funds. Evidence indicates the suspect was involved in the forgery. That investigative information was forwarded to the Ada County Prosecuting Attorney's Office and resulted in the felony warrant.
