UPDATE: Specialized Van FOUND after theft - Suspect still on the loose

UPDATE: July 30, 2012 - Boise Officers have recovered a van stolen from a Boise home earlier this month, but are still searching for the suspects who stole it. The van is specially equipped as the primary transportation for a quadriplegic man in his 20's.

What Happened: Boise Police were called by an off-duty Probation and Parole Officer Saturday evening who recognized the stolen van from alerts sent out by BPD. The van was parked in the lot of a grocery story on Broadway Ave.. Boise Police had alerted local law enforcement to be on the lookout for the van last week. A public release was sent out by the department Friday, July 27th and reported by local media.

After locating the van, officers were able to return the van to it's owner. The owner says it was damaged by the thieves, but he's very happy to have it back.

Boise officers want to thank all the local law enforcement agencies, citizens and local news outlets who helped spread the word of the stolen van, an awareness that helped officers recover it.

Anyone with information on who the suspects in the theft may (see security photos below) be are urged to contact Crime Stoppers at 343-COPS, or log onto www.343cops.com, or text CRIMES or 274637, subject: Tip236. The van is a 1998 Maroon Dodge Grand Caravan (PIctured) with Idaho license plates out of Washington County,
Anyone who may know where the van is, is urged to call Boise Police non-emergency dispatch at 377-6790.
