Officer nabs bicycle thief in the act; Daily incident report

Arrested: Michael S. Mausling, 44, Transient

Charges: Burglary (F), Resisting and Obstructing (m)

A Boise Police officer on patrol in the area of 27th and Heron Street in Boise observed a suspect riding a bicycle without the required lighting early this morning, July 18th, at approximately 3:00 a.m. The suspect was also dragging a second bike with him. As the officer approached in his marked police car the suspect dropped the extra bike and quickly began to ride away. The officer activated his emergency lights and the suspect took off on his bike. Officers eventually located the suspect and he was taken into custody after a brief struggle. Officers determined the bicycle had just been stolen from a nearby garage. The suspect was transported to the Ada County Jail and booked on the above listed charges.

Warrant Arrested: Solomon Vega Jr, 35, Fresno CA

Warrant Charges: Lewd Conduct with a Minor under 16 (F)

The suspect was charged with Lewd Conduct with a Minor yesterday, after being transferred from another jurisdiction to the Ada County Jail.

The arrest warrant stems from an ongoing investigation into inapropriate conduct that began in 2010. The incident, involving multiple instances, was reported to Boise Police in 2011. The victim, a juvenile female at the time, tells detectives the conduct took place at a Boise home. The suspect is well known to the victim and officers have no reason at this time to believe other victims are involved. That investigative information was forwarded to the Ada County Prosecuting Attorney's Office and resulted in the felony warrant. Further inquiries should be directed to the Ada County Prosecuting Attorney's office.

The victim and/or family in this case is receiving services through the Boise Police Department Victim Services Unit. To learn more about victim services log onto www.boisepolice.org and click on Crime Victim Services.
