Boise Police retail crimes detectives, working with loss prevention specialists at stores located on the 300 block of North Milwaukee Street yesterday, July 25th, at approximately 5:00 p.m. observed the suspects as they concealed merchandise and left multiple stores without paying for the items. Officers observed the suspects enter the stores, conceal goods, then return to a vehicle in the parking lot repeatedly. Officers detained all five suspects and recovered stolen merchandise, mostly clothing, with a value that exceeded $1,000.00 from the suspect's car. Detectives determined the merchandise had been stolen from more than ten stores in the immediate area. Officers believe the suspects entered the stores with the intent to commit the thefts resulting in the burglary charges. Officers have evidence that indicates the suspects intended to sell the stolen merchandise for money at a later time. The three adult suspects were transported to the Ada County Jail and booked on the above listed charges. Two juvenile suspects were transported to Juvenile Detention.

The Boise Police Organized Retail Crime Unit has developed a positive, productive working relationship with loss prevention agents from many local retail stores, large and small, local and national chains. The goal of the BPD Organized Retail Crime Unit is to work with retailers to reduce theft and fraud, crimes that can impact consumer prices.
