Boise Police responded to a citizens report of a possible DUI driver near Orchard and Kootenai early Monday morning, June 4th, at approximately 3:00 a.m. Officers observed the suspect vehicle run a red light at Curtis and Cassia Streets. Officers activated emergency lights and conducted a traffic stop. As officers attempted to speak with the driver, she refused to comply with multiple instructions to exit the vehicle or provide any identifying information. The suspect then put her vehicle in drive and pressed on the accelerator. The vehicle almost struck an officer, who had to jump out of the way. The suspect vehicle, an SUV, then struck a police vehicle in the rear end. The suspect then drove off ignoring several stop signs as she fled the scene. Officers noted that the suspect had a small child in the car with her. The suspect accelerated to a high rate of speed and smashed through a gate at a recycling business on the 5100 block of Emerald Street, causing an estimated $1,500.00 in damage. When officers located the vehicle, the suspect and child had fled. Officers located the suspect a short time later hiding underneath a vehicle in an adjacent parking lot. Officers recovered a half empty can of beer and multiple empty cans from the suspect's vehicle. The suspect, who appeared to be very intoxicated at the time, was transported to the Ada County Jail and a blood draw was performed for later evidentiary testing. A check through Ada County Records indicated the suspect had prior convictions for DUI making this charge a felony. The suspect was booked at the Ada County Jail on the above listed charges.
