Arrested: Brittany A. Veach, 20, Boise

  Charges:Burglary (F)

Boise Police retail crimes investigators arrested the two suspects yesterday, February 8th, after receiving a report of a theft at a local merchant, as part of an ongoing investigation. Yesterday, investigators received a report of a theft at a retail store on the 8100 block of West Franklin, at approximately 3:00 p.m. Store employees tell police that they witnessed the suspects conceal several pairs of jeans and then leave the store without paying for the items. Officers confronted the suspects in a nearby parking lot and recovered more than $700.00 in stolen merchandise that had been taken from three different stores in Boise. Officers believe the suspects entered the stores with the intent to commit the thefts, resulting in the burglary charges. Officers had already been investigating the suspects in connection with several other retail thefts beginning earlier this month. At the time of arrest officers recovered two stolen credit cards resulting in the Grand Theft charge. Officers also recovered a pipe used to smoke marijuana and determined that Randall Johnson had been operating a motor vehicle while suspended. Additional charges may be pending. After a detailed investigation, the suspects were transported to the Ada County Jail and booked on the above listed charges.

The Boise Police Organized Retail Crime Unit has developed a positive, productive working relationship with loss prevention agents from many local retail stores, large and small, local and national chains. The goal of the BPD Organized Retail Crime Unit is to work with retailers to reduce theft and fraud, crimes that can impact consumer prices.
