Attempted strangulation, Felony DUI and other Felony arrests; Weekend incident report

12-12-11 Attempted strangulation, Felony DUI and other Felony arrests; Weekend incident report

   Arrested: Amanda M Roderick, 22, Boise 

   Charges: Attempted Strangulation (F)

    Boise Police responded to a report of a fight at a residence on the 10000 block of West Alliance Street Friday, December 9th, at approximately 10:00 a.m. Witnesses tell police the suspect, who is well known to the victim, became involved in an altercation and at one point the suspect attempted to choke her. The suspect had left the residence when officers arrived. Officers located the suspect on foot a short distance away. After a detailed investigation, the suspect was transported to the Ada County Jail and booked on the above listed charges.

TITLE 18 CRIMES AND PUNISHMENTS CHAPTER 9 ASSAULT AND BATTERY 18-923. Attempted strangulation.(1) Any person who willfully and unlawfully chokes or attempts to strangle a household member, or a person with whom he or she has or had a dating relationship, is guilty of a felony punishable by incarceration for up to fifteen (15) years in the state prison. (2)  No injuries are required to prove attempted strangulation.
(3)  The prosecution is not required to show that the defendant intended to kill or injure the victim. The only intent required is the intent to choke or attempt to strangle.

    Arrested: Mark D. Johnson, 37, Meridian

    Charges:Driving Under the Influence (DUI)(F)

  Boise Police observed a vehicle parked on Bannock at 6th Street on the side of the road running. The suspect was sleeping behind the wheel of the vehicle. The suspect, who appeared to be very intoxicated at the time, failed several field sobriety tests and blew a .10/.11 at the Ada County Jail. A check through Ada County Records indicated the suspect had prior convictions for DUI making this charge a felony. The suspect was booked at the Ada County Jail on the above listed charges.

   Warrant Arrested: Nicholas M. Guida, 19, Boise

   Warrant Charges:Delivery of a Controlled Substance (Marijuana)(F)

    The suspect was taken into custody on an outstanding felony warrant for Delivery of a Controlled Substance Friday.

   The arrest warrant stems from an ongoing investigation into an incident that took place hear Hale and Manitou streets on November 12th of this year. On that date, witnesses tell police the suspect attempted to sell marijuana brownies to multiple persons. That investigative information was forwarded to the Ada County Prosecuting Attorney's Office and resulted in the felony warrant.

   Arrested: Patrick Arellano Jr. 47, Boise

   Charges:Possession of a Controlled Substance (Meth)(F), Possession of a Controlled Substance (Marijuana)(m), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (m)

   Arrested: Josephine R. Sanchez, 24, Boise

   Charges: Possession of a Controlled Substance (Meth)(F), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (m)

  Boise Police on patrol Saturday afternoon observed a vehicle fail to use its turn signal near Latah and Nez Perce streets, December 10th, at approximately 1:31 a.m. As officers contacted the driver, Patrick Arellano, they observed a needle in plain sight. A search of the vehicle revealed needles, spoons with meth residue, a baggie with a small amount of meth, a small amount of mairjuana and other items of drug paraphernalia. The suspects were booked at the Ada County Jail on the above listed charges.

   Arrested: James L. Sullivan, 44, Boise

   Charges:Possession of a Controlled Substance (Meth)(F), Possession of a Controlled Substance (Marijuana)(m), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (m) Failure to Appear charges

  Boise Police on patrol Saturday evening observed a vehicle failing to maintain its lane near 36th and State Streets. As officers contacted the driver a records check through Ada County indicated the suspect had current warrants for his arrest on Failure to Appear charges. A search of the vehicle revealed 1 gram of meth, 1 gram of marijuana and other items of drug paraphernalia. The suspect was booked at the Ada County Jail on the above listed charges.

   Arrested: Rand W. Snider, 30, Boise

   Charges: Stalking (F), Violation of a No Contact Order (m), Driving Under the Influence (DUI)(m)

    Boise Police responded to a report of a no contact order violation early Saturday morning, December 10th, at approximately 4:00 a.m. Officers spoke with the victim who indicates the suspect had attempted to call her repeatedly in direct violation of a current no contact order.  Officers located the suspect and conducted a traffic stop not far from the victim's home. The suspect, who appeared to be very intoxicated at the time, failed several field sobriety tests and blew a .15/.14 at the Ada County Jail. After a detailed investigation into the suspect's actions he was booked at the Ada County Jail on the above listed charges.

   Arrested: Jack E. Rose, 45, Boise

   Charges:Possession of a Controlled Substance (Meth)(F), Driving Without Privileges (DWP)(m)

  Boise Police on patrol Saturday evening, December 10th, at approximately 10:30 p.m. observed a vehicle fail to perform a legal stop near Overland and Columbus. As officers contacted the driver, Ada County Records indicated the suspect was currently suspended form driving a motor vehicle. A search of the suspects person revealed a plastic baggy containing .8 grams of meth. The suspect was booked at the Ada County Jail on the above listed charges.

  Warrant Arrested: Eusebio M. Lona, 42, Portland OR

  Warrant Charges:Burglary (F)

    The suspect was taken into custody on an outstanding felony warrant for Burglary Saturday.

   The arrest warrant stems from an ongoing investigation into goods fraudulently obtained using counterfeit financial transaction cards. Evidence indicates the suspect was involved in presenting the false cards at various stores in March of this year. That investigative information was forwarded to the Ada County Prosecuting Attorney's Office and resulted in the felony warrant.

  Warrant Arrested: Amanda Gudgell, 29, Boise

  Warrant Charges:Grand Theft (F)

    The suspect was taken into custody on an outstanding felony warrant for Grand Theft Saturday.

   The arrest warrants stem from two separate incidents that are currently under investigation. The first incident took place in September of this year and involves funds taken from a local business while the suspect was an employee. Evidence indicates the suspect collected money on behalf of the business and then pocketed the cash. Detectives believe more than a thousand dollars was taken over a period of time. The second investigation stems from the illegal use of a credit card in August of this year. Evidence indicates the suspect fraudulently used the victims credit card. Those investigative details were forwarded to the Ada County Prosecuting Attorney's Office and resulted in the felony warrants.
