08-25-10 UPDATE: Robbery Suspects from Jan. 30, 2011, One Arrested, One Deceased

Boise, Aug 25, 2011- Boise Police recently identified the two suspects believed to be involved in a home invasion robbery that occurred last January 30th. Arrest warrants for both suspects were issued August 2nd. One suspect was arrested in Canyon County earlier this week and was transferred to the Ada County Jail on the Boise charges yesterday. The second suspect has been identified as the man deceased after firing a weapon at Nampa Police Officers early yesterday morning. Nampa Police have reported the incident occurred as they were attempting to serve the suspect with the Ada County warrant.

Suspect: William D. Collins, 36, Nampa

    Charged: Robbery (F)

Suspect Collins is now in the Ada County Jail, as reported in this mornings Boise Police daily incident report, after being transferred from Canyon County, where he was already in custody, to face charges on the outstanding warrant for robbery.

Suspect: Charles D. Mefford, 29, Caldwell

Suspect Mefford was identified this afternoon as the man involved in the Wednesday morning incident with Nampa Police.

Background on the Jan. 30th Robbery:Boise Police were called early the morning of January 30th after the residents of the home reported they had been robbed. The victims said two men entered the home, officers believe through an unlocked door, and threatened the victims with a knife and a gun. One victim reported one of the suspects hit him with the firearm causing a head injury. The victims reported several items were stolen from the home by the suspects during the robbery.

Detectives do not believe the victims knew the suspects. Officers believe the suspects were indeed targeting several other individuals and broke into and robbed the wrong house.

Boise Police detectives were able to develop leads by tracking down some of the property stolen during the robbery. Leads were also developed from evidence found at the scene and from citizens tips to Crime Stoppers. The investigation was forwarded to the Ada County Prosecuting Attorney's Office and resulted in the felony warrants for the two above suspects being issued.

At this time, no other warrants exist in connection with the Jan. 30th Robbery.
