08-15-11 Ongoing dispute leads to Aggravated Battery charge; Weekend incident report

  Arrested: Joshua J. Mettie, 30, Boise

   Charges: Aggravated Battery (F)

    Boise Police on patrol responded to a report of a fight that had taken place near Orchard and Richardson Saturday evening, August 13th, at approximately 7:00 p.m. When officers arrived on scene the suspect had fled the area. The victim was transported to a local hospital with what appeared to be non life threatening injuries to his face and eye. The victim tells police he had been involved in an ongoing dispute with the suspect, who is well known to him. According to the victim the suspect attacked him as he was walking to a store, striking him in the right side of his face and then ran off. Officers later located the suspect near Richardson and Orchard at approximately 11:30 p.m. that evening, after a detailed investigation into the incident. Due to the severity of the victims injuries the suspect was transported to the Ada County Jail and booked on the above listed charges.

   Arrested: Parvin Adili, 37, Boise

   Charges: 2 Counts of Burglary (F), Abuse or Exploitation of a Vulnerable Adult (m), Unlawful Entry (m)

    Boise Police responded to a report of a burglary at a residence near Overland and Vista on July 29th of this year. The victim, an elderly female reported that the suspect, who is an aquiantance, had knocked on her door the previous evening. The victim tells police the suspect began asking for prescription pain pills and then pushed hear aside to gain entry into the residence. The victim tells police she locked herself in a room and waited for the suspect to leave. The following morning, caregivers discovered several prescription medications missing from the residence. Officers began an investigation to determine the identity of the suspect. 

    On August 12th officers received a report of a similar incident that had taken place at a residence near Victory and Annett. The victim in this case tells police the suspect had convinced the elderly victim to give her money, before asking for pain medications. Evidence indicates the suspect had also taken prescription medications from the victim without her knowledge. 

   After a detailed investigation officers identified the suspect and located her at a residence on the 3300 block of Murano Steet Friday, August 12th. After obtaining additional evidence the suspect was transported to the Ada County Jail and booked on the above listed charges.

   Arrested: Ernesto Cardenas, 24, Boise

   Charges: Injury to a Child (F)

    Boise Police on patrol responded to a report of a disturbance at a residence on the 900 block of North Allumbaugh Sunday morning, August 14th, at approximately 5:00 a.m. Witnesses tell police the suspect, who appeared to be very intoxicated at the time, attempted to enter the locked home. The resident, who is well known to the victim, refused to allow him entry. At one point, the suspect used his arm to break a window causing sharp jagged pieces of glass to fall on and around a small child's bed as he slept. The suspect was treated by paramedics for cuts to his arm. The child was not injured. The suspect was transported to the Ada County Jail and booked on the above listed charges.

TITLE 18 CRIMES AND PUNISHMENTS CHAPTER 15 CHILDREN AND VULNERABLE ADULTS18-1501.Injury to children.(1) Any person who, under circumstances or conditions likely to produce great bodily harm or death, willfully causes or permits any child to suffer, or inflicts thereon unjustifiable physical pain or mental suffering, or having the care or custody of any child, willfully causes or permits the person or health of such child to be injured, or willfully causes or permits such child to be placed in such situation that its person or health is endangered, is punishable by imprisonment in the county jail not exceeding one (1) year, or in the state prison for not less than one (1) year nor more than ten (10) years.

    Arrested: Austin D. McGee, 21, Garden City

    Charges:Burglary (F), Resisting and Obstructing (m), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (m), Pedestrian Under the Influence (m), Open Container Violation (m)

  Boise Police on patrol responded to a citizen report of an intoxicated pedestrian in traffic near Americana and Latah early Sunday morning, August 14th, at approximately 1:00 a.m. The calling party told police he had first observed the suspect sitting in his vehicle and confronted him. The witness tells police the suspect got out of the vehicle and stumbled into traffic. Officers located the suspect nearby, who appeared to be very intoxicated at the time. The suspect, later identified as Austin McGee, was uncooperative with officers, attempting to get into a pack he was carrying after being told repeatedly not to do so. The suspect was taken into custody for resisting and obstructing and pedestrian under the influence. A search of the suspects pack revealed needles, other drug paraphernalia, and an open bottle of Black Velvet that was half empty. Officers also located a vehicle registration with title that did not belong to the suspect. Officers later determined the paperwork had been stolen from a vehicle two blocks away resulting in the burglary charge. The suspect was booked at the Ada County Jail on the above listed charges.

    Arrested: Emily R. Field, 38, Boise

    Charges:Possession of a Controlled Substance (Prescription Medications)(F), Driving Under the Influence (DUI)(m)

  Boise Police on patrol responded to a report of a drunk driver near Park Center and Mallard Sunday morning, August 14th, at approximately 10:00 a.m. The calling party tells police the suspect swerved into his lane almost colliding with his vehicle. The witness followed the suspect vehicle until police conducted a traffic stop near Thurman Mills and Adams Street in Garden City. The suspect, who appeared to be under the influence of an intoxicating substance at the time, failed several field sobriety tests. Officers located prescription medications in the suspects purse that she did not have a prescription for. At the Ada County Jail the suspect blew a .00/.00. The suspect was booked at the Ada County Jail on the above listed charges.

 Arrested: James L. Sanders, 53, no Known Address

  Charges:Burglary (F)

  Boise Police responded to a report of a theft at a retail store on the 3600 block of West State Friday, August 12th, at approximately 10:30 p.m. Store employees tell police that they witnessed the suspect select an 18 pack of beer and then leave the store without paying for the merchandise. Store employees detained the suspect until officers arrived. Officers believe the suspect entered the store with the intent to commit the theft resulting in the burglary charge. Officers have evidence that indicates the suspect was involved in a similar incident two weeks ago at the same store. The suspect was transported to the Ada County Jail and booked on the above listed charges.

  The Boise Police Department has developed a positive, productive working relationship with loss prevention agents from many local retail stores, large and small, local and national chains. The goal is to work with retailers to reduce theft and fraud, crimes that can impact consumer prices.
