Officers arrest burglary suspect after brief chase; Daily incident report

08-18-11 Officers arrest burglary suspect after brief chase; Daily incident report

   Arrested: Sterling W. Knight, 18, Boise

   Charges: 2 counts of Burglary (F), Resisting and Obstructing (m), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (m) Failure to Appear warrant charges (F)

    Boise Police on patrol contacted the suspect near Maple Grove and Ustick with a group of juveniles on a possible tobacco violation yesterday, August 17th at approximately 11:00 p.m. As officers talked to the suspect they requested a records check from Ada County Dispatch. Before Ada County could respond, the suspect ran from officers northbound on Maple Grove, jumping over fences and ignoring police commands to stop. Officers eventually took the suspect into custody as he attempted to scale another fence at Midland and Welford. Ada County Records advised officers the suspect had an outstanding felony warrant for Failure to Appear. A search of the backpack the suspect was carrying revealed drug paraphernalia and items stolen in two vehicle burglaries that had taken place earlier that evening. The suspect was transported to the Ada County Jail and booked on the above listed charges.

   Arrested: Alan V. Lu, 33, No Known Address

   Charges:Possession of a Controlled Substance (Meth)(F), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (m)

    Boise Police assisted Idaho Probation and Parole agents on the search of a residence on the 1600 block of west State yesterday, August 17th, at approximately 3:30 p.m. As officers spoke with one of the occupants of the home, later identified as Alan Lu, they observed a glass smoking device with burnt residue sticking out of his shoe in plain sight. A search of the suspects person revealed two packages with a combined total package weight of 10 grams of meth. The suspect was booked at the Ada County Jail on the above listed charges.

   Arrested: William B. Easterly, 35, Clatskanie OR.

   Charges:Felon in Possession of a Firearm (F), Possession of a Controlled Substance (Cathinone/Bath Salts)(m)

    Boise Police on patrol responded to a citizen report of possible drug activity involving a firearm at a hotel near Milwaukee and Emerald yesterday, August 17th, at approximately 11:30 a.m. The witness tells police the suspect was seen concealing a handgun and possible drugs. A check through Ada County Records indicated the suspect had two prior Felony convictions out of Oregon and Washington.  Officers located the suspect and recovered a handgun, and approximately 9 grams total package weight of Cathinone (Bath Salts). The suspect was booked at the Ada County Jail on the above listed charges.

  Charges:Burglary (F), Contempt of Court Warrant (m)

  Arrested: Michael B. Riley, 34, Nampa

  Charges:Burglary (F), Probation Violation (m)

  Boise Police responded to a report of a theft at a retail store on the 1000 block of West Fairview yesterday, August 17th, at approximately 9:30 a.m. Store employees tell police that they witnessed the suspects conceal video games then leave the store without paying for them. Officers located the suspects in the immediate area and recovered the items. A check through Ada County Records indicated both subjects had outstanding warrants for their arrest. Officers believe the suspects entered the store with the intent to commit the theft resulting in the burglary charges. The suspect was transported to the Ada County Jail and booked on the above listed charges.

  The Boise Police Organized Retail Crime Unit has developed a positive, productive working relationship with loss prevention agents from many local retail stores, large and small, local and national chains. The goal of the BPD Organized Retail Crime Unit is to work with retailers to reduce theft and fraud, crimes that can impact consumer prices.
