08-03-11 Boise Police K9 "KC" sniffs out Meth on traffic stop; Daily incident report

Arrested: Ruben M. Sanchez, 35, Boise

Charges:Possession with Intent to Deliver (Meth)(F), Convicted Felon in Possession of a Firearm (F), Defacing of a Weapons Serial Number (F)

Boise Police received a report of a reckless driver yesterday afternoon, August 2nd, at approximately 1:00 p.m. The calling party tells police the suspect vehicle failed to stop before darting into the lane of traffic from a parking lot at a high rate of speed directly in front of another oncoming car. Witnesses say the vehicle then tailgated another car for some distance before officers located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop at Capital near Myrtle Street. As officers contacted the driver, a Boise Police K-9 named "KC" alerted on the vehicle indicating the likely presence of drugs. A search of the vehicle revealed 2.6 grams total package weight of meth and a handgun concealed in the vehicle. The handguns serial numbers appear to have been intentionally scratched off and a check through Ada County records indicated the suspect had a prior felony conviction resulting in the Felon in Possession charge. The suspect was booked at the Ada County Jail on the above listed charges.
