07-21-11 Citizen report of suspicious activity turns into
multiple drug & theft arrests; BPD daily incident report
Boise, July 21, 2011 - "Officers always
tell citizens, they know what's unusual in their neighborhood, to
trust their gut feeling if they think activity is suspicious and
call it in. In this case, a citizen did just that and it led to
several arrests for theft and drug charges. Hats off to this
citizen who knows his neighborhood and wants to keep it safe," said
Capt. Pete Ritter of the Boise Police Patrol Division.
Arrested: Mason C. McCollum, 19, Boise
Charged: Grand Theft by Possession (F), Possession of a Controlled
Substance (F), Possession of drug paraphernalia (m), outstanding
Arrested: Jeremy T. Sinclair, 26, Meridian
Charged: Grand Theft by Possession (F)
Arrested: Shirley M. Stone-Jones, 45, Hamilton, MT
Charged: Grand Theft (F)
Arrested: Lucas W. Graham, 28, Boise
Parole Agents Warrant
What Happened: Boise Police were called
by a citizen yesterday, Wednesday, July 20th, shortly after 5:00
p.m. The citizen reported what he felt was suspicious activity,
possibly drug use going on in a neighborhood park on the 1700 block
of S. Owyhee Street.
Officers arrived and found several
individuals, four men and one woman sitting together in the park,
as well as associated vehicles matching the description given by
Officers requested identification and
began speaking with the individuals. Officers found the suspect
Stone-Jones to be in possession of a stolen and forged check. The
victim reported several checks recently out of Meridian.
Officers received consent to search the
vehicle belonging to McCollum. Inside they found several more
checks stolen from the same victim in Meridian. Officers also found
numerous drug paraphernalia, including a glass pipe with residue
that tested positive for methamphetamine.
While speaking with Sinclair, officers found he was in possession
of a loaded shotgun in his vehicle. A records check revealed the
shotgun stolen out of Canyon County.
Officers found Graham was on parole. Due
to circumstances surrounding the incident, including the ongoing
investigation into the recovered stolen property, Graham was placed
under arrest on an Agents Warrant by his Probation and Parole
Note: Jonathan E. Auvil, 29, Boise was
also arrested on charges of Grand Theft after he was found to be in
possession of a laptop with a serial number that came back as
stolen out of Florida. However, Auvil was later released from jail
pending further investigation.
Arrested: Michael H. Hames, 46, Boise
Charges: Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon (F),
Domestic Battery (m)
While investigating a domestic incident
that occurred prior to officers arrival, Boise Police found Hames
in possession of a firearm. Officers found Hames is a convicted
felon out of the State of California. He was booked into the Ada
County Jail on the above charges.
