04-18-11 Driving on a sidewalk leads to Felony Injury to a Child charges; Weekend incident report

    Arrested: Beatriz E. Castro, 28, Boise

    Charges:Injury to a Child (F), Driving Under the Influence (DUI)(m)

  Boise Police on patrol observed a vehicle traveling eastbound on Melrose turn south on Broadway. The suspect vehicle missed the intended lane and drove onto the sidewalk for approximately 100 feet before returning to the street. Officers then observed the vehicle fail to maintain its lane, late Saturday night, April 16th, at approximately 11:30 p.m. Officers stopped the driver at Broadway and Linden. The suspect, who appeared to be extremely intoxicated at the time, failed several field sobriety tests. At one point, the suspect passed out and officers called paramedics to the scene for the suspect's safety. The suspect was taken into custody and blew a .21/.23 at the Ada County Jail. 

   During the course of the DUI Investigation, officers received information that the suspect's two minor children, one under the age of 8 and the other an infant, had been left alone at a residence in West Boise alone. The children were turned over to the custody of family members. The suspect was booked at the Ada County Jail on the above listed charges.

TITLE 18 CRIMES AND PUNISHMENTS CHAPTER 15 CHILDREN AND VULNERABLE ADULTS18-1501.Injury to children.(1) Any person who, under circumstances or conditions likely to produce great bodily harm or death, willfully causes or permits any child to suffer, or inflicts thereon unjustifiable physical pain or mental suffering, or having the care or custody of any child, willfully causes or permits the person or health of such child to be injured, or willfully causes or permits such child to be placed in such situation that its person or health is endangered, is punishable by imprisonment in the county jail not exceeding one (1) year, or in the state prison for not less than one (1) year nor more than ten (10) years.

 Warrant Arrested: Hector Hernandez, 52, Boise

  Warrant Charges:Lewd Conduct with a Minor (F)

    The suspect was taken into custody on an outstanding felony warrant for Lewd Conduct with a Minor Friday.

   The arrest warrant stems from an ongoing investigation in cooperation with Federal Marshals into lewd conduct that took place at a West Boise residence on December 31st of last year. The incident was reported to Boise Police on January 1st of this year. The victim, under 12 years old, is known to the suspect. That investigative information was forwarded to the Ada County Prosecuting Attorney's Office and resulted in the felony warrant. Further inquiries should be directed to the Ada County Prosecuting attorneys office.

  Arrested: Nicholas C. Rinker, 18, Middleton

   Charges:Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver (Ecstacy)(F)

   Boise Police responded to a report of an unknown man sleeping in the hallway of a business on the 200 block of Capital Friday morning, April 15th, at approximately 4:30 a.m. The suspect appeared to be intoxicated at the time and officers had to wake him. Due to his condition, officers requested paramedics for the suspect's safety. As the suspect was helped up from the ground, officers observed a clear baggie of pills sticking out of the suspect's clothing. Officers recovered approximately 59 ecstacy pills with a combined total package weight of 14.5 grams. After being transported to a local hospital and then cleared by medical personnel, the suspect was booked at the Ada County Jail on the above listed charges.

  Arrested: Joshua J. Deluane, 26, Boise

   Charges:Possession of a Controlled Substance (Meth)(F), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (m)

   Boise Police responded to a report of a disturbance at a residence on the 2800 block of Cherry Lane Saturday afternoon, April 16th, at approximately 4:00 p.m. When officers arrived at the home they observed a clear plastic baggie sitting in plain sight on a counter containing approximately 1 gram total package weight of Meth. Officers also recovered pipes and other drug paraphernalia from the residence. The suspect was booked at the Ada County Jail on the above listed charges.

  Warrant Arrested: Kenneth T. Johnson, 19, Boise

   Warrant Charges:Grand Theft (F)(Elmore County), Burglary (F)

  Arrested: Cheyenne L. Serpa, 18, Boise

   Charges:Possession of a Controlled Substance (Prescription Medications)(F)

   Boise Police on patrol observed a vehicle fail to signal a turn onto Ustick from Curtis late Sunday night, April 17th, at approximately 11:50 p.m. As officers conducted the traffic stop, they observed people inside the vehicle changing seats. A check through Ada County records indicated that one occupant, Kenneth Johnson, had an outstanding warrant for his arrest out of Elmore County. Officers also determined that Kenneth Johnson was wanted by Boise Police detectives in connection with a residential burglary that took place on February 15th of this year. As officers communicated with dispatch, they again observed Kenneth Johnson and Cheyenne Serpa moving around in the back seat of the vehicle. For safety reasons, officers asked the suspects to exit the vehicle. When Cheyenne Serpa exited the vehicle, officers observed a clear plastic baggie containing several prescription pills sticking out of her pocket. The suspect did not have documentation for the prescription medications. The suspects were booked at the Ada County Jail on the above listed charges.

  Arrested: Patrick E. Hudson, 18, Boise

   Charges:Battery on an Officer (F), Resisting and Obstructing (m), Minor Consumption (m), Failure to Appear Warrant charges

   Boise Police received a call from a concerned citizen who indicated he was following suspects who may have been involved in breaking a window late Saturday night, April 16th, at approximately 10:20 p.m. Officers located the four suspects in an alley between Grove and Main, West of Fifth street. As officers ordered the suspects to stop, one of them, later identified as Patrick Hudson, turned and ran West down the alley away from officers. The suspect began to climb a fence to evade police who grabbed him and pulled him back down. The suspect then turned and struck the officer with his hand and elbow before twisting out of the officers grasp and continuing to run. He was taken into custody a short distance away. A check through Ada County records indicated the suspect had a current warrant for failure to appear. The suspect had the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage and slurred speech resulting in the Minor Consumption charge. The suspect was booked at the Ada County Jail on the above listed charges.

 Arrested: Eva C. Jaroski, 31, Boise

  Charges:Grand Theft (F)

  Boise Police responded to a report of a theft at a retail store on the 300 block of North Milwaukee Sunday afternoon, April 17th, at approximately 7:00 p.m. Store employees tell police that they witnessed the suspect conceal several items of jewelry and then leave the store without paying for them. The suspect was detained and officers recovered stolen items from several stores in the immediate area, including the jewelry valued at more than $1,000.00 The suspect was transported to the Ada County Jail and booked on the above listed charges.

 Arrested: Angel Sanchez, 28, Boise

  Charges:Burglary (F)

  Boise Police responded to a report of a theft at a retail store on the 1100 block of South Vista Friday, April 15th, at approximately 9:30 p.m. Store employees tell police the suspect entered the store and requested a carton of cigarettes. When the cashier placed them in a bag, the suspect grabbed the bag and ran out of the store. Witnesses grabbed the suspect in the parking lot and held him until officers arrived. Officers believe the suspect entered the store with the intent to commit the theft, resulting in the burglary charge. The suspect was transported to the Ada County Jail and booked on the above listed charges.

  Charges:Burglary (F)

  Boise Police responded to a report of a theft at a retail store on the 8300 block of West Overland Sunday, April 17th, at approximately 7:00 p.m. Store employees tell police that they witnessed the suspects working together to conceal goods, and then left the store without paying for them. Officers believe the suspects entered the store with the intent to commit the theft, resulting in the burglary charges. The suspects were transported to the Ada County Jail and booked on the above listed charges.

 Arrested: John J. Hurt, 56, No Known Address

  Charges:Burglary (F)

  Boise Police responded to a report of a theft at a retail store on the 100 block of East Myrtle Saturday, April 16th, at approximately 6:00 p.m. Store employees tell police they witnessed the suspect conceal four bottles of wine and then leave the store without paying for them. Officers located the suspect a short time later and recovered the items. Officers believe the suspect entered the store with the intent to commit the theft, resulting in the burglary charge. The suspect was transported to the Ada County Jail and booked on the above listed charges.
