Aggravated Assault and Injury to a Child charges; daily incident report

03-22-11 Aggravated Assault and Injury to a Child charges; daily incident report

   Arrested: Victor F. Byers Jr, 59, Tetonia

   Charges:Aggravated Assault (F)

 A Boise Police officer on patrol near the intersection of Curtis and I-84 observed the suspect standing in the roadway next to a vehicle yesterday evening, March 21st, at approximately 8:00 p.m. The officer observed the suspect screaming and cursing at the two female victims in the vehicle and contacted the man. The victims tell police the suspect had been following them for several miles as he attempted to crash his vehicle into theirs repeatedly. The victims indicated they feared for their safety during the incident. After a detailed investigation the suspect was booked at the Ada County Jail on the above listed charges.

TITLE 18 CRIMES AND PUNISHMENTS CHAPTER 9 ASSAULT AND BATTERY18-905.Aggravated assault defined. An aggravated assault is an assault: (a)  With a deadly weapon or instrument without intent to kill; or (b)  By any means or force likely to produce great bodily harm.

 Warrant Arrested: Joshua S. Thompson, 25, Boise

  Warrant Charges: Injury to a Child (F)

 Warrant Arrested: Katie E. Thompson, 25, Boise

  Warrant Charges: Injury to a Child (F)

    The suspects were taken into custody on an outstanding felony warrant for Injury to a Child yesterday.

   The arrest warrant stems from an ongoing investigation that began with a request for assistance from Idaho Department of Health and Welfare on a check of a residence on the 2100 block of south Curtis in November of last year. When officers and Health and Welfare agents entered the home to conduct a welfare check, they observed unsafe conditions including trash and refuse on the floors, stagnant water standing in a bathtub and rotting food throughout the residence. At the time, two children under the age of 8 lived at the residence. The children were taken into the custody of the State Department of Health and Welfare. That investigative information was forwarded to the Ada County Prosecuting Attorney's Office and resulted in the felony warrants.

   Charges:Delivery of a Controlled Substance (Marijuana)(F), Possession of a Controlled Substance (Meth)(F), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (m)

  Arrested: Christina M. Mathews, 20, Boise

   Charges:Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

    Boise Police assisted Idaho Probation and Parole agents on the search of a residence on the 3500 block of north Cole yesterday afternoon, March 21st, at approximately 4:30 p.m. Using a Boise Police K-9 officers recovered approximately 264 grams of Marijuana packaged in baggies, a small amount of Meth and hypodermic needles. The suspects were booked at the Ada County Jail on the above listed charges.

  Arrested: Joanna N. Sherman, 51, Boise

   Charges: Possession of a Controlled Substance (Meth)(F), Driving Without Privileges (DWP)(m)

    Boise Police on patrol early this morning just after midnight, March 22nd, observed a vehicle fail to stop before entering the roadway at Vista and Malad. As officers contacted the driver Ada County dispatch confirmed the driver was currently suspended. A search of the suspects person revealed a small amount of Meth. The suspect was booked at the Ada County Jail on the above listed charges.

  Arrested: Michael S. Masse, 25, No Known Address

   Charges:Escape (F), Parole Violation Charges

    Boise Police assisted Idaho Probation and Parole agents on the 1200 block of Milwaukee on the search for a suspect who had just escaped custody yesterday, March 21st, at approximately 5:00 p.m. Officers located the wanted suspect after a citizen observed him exiting a Idaho Probation and Parole vehicle and hitching a ride with a nearby motorist. Officers stopped the vehicle shortly after and the suspect was taken into custody without incident. The suspect was booked at the Ada County Jail on the above listed charges.

 Arrested: Derrick M. Barnes, 41, Boise

  Charges:Burglary (F)

  Boise Police responded to a report of a theft at a retail store on the 600 block of Milwaukee yesterday, March 21st, at approximately 12:10 p.m. Store employees tell police that they witnessed the suspect conceal merchandise and then leave the store without paying for the items. Officers located the suspect a short time later and recovered the items. Officers believe the suspect entered the store with the intent to commit the theft resulting in the burglary charge. The suspect was transported to the Ada County Jail and booked on the above listed charges.

  The Boise Police Department has developed a positive, productive working relationship with loss prevention agents from many local retail stores, large and small, local and national chains. The goal is to work with retailers to reduce theft and fraud, crimes that can impact consumer prices.
