Boise Police were called Sunday morning
at 3:23 a.m. by a man reporting a burglary that just occurred in
Boise's north end, at a home just west of W. Hill Road and Harrison
Blvd. Investigating officers found no forced entry into the home.
However, the resident told officers he was sleeping on the sofa
when the sound of drawers opening and closing woke him up. He went
to a back bedroom where he confronted a man wearing a grey hoodie
and dark pants. The victim says upon being discovered, the burglar
punched the victim in the face and ran from the home down a nearby
alley. The victim chased the suspect for a short distance, but
returned home and called police. Officers did an immediate search
of the area but were unable to find the suspect. Working with the
victim, officers were able to find the burglar took a significant
amount of jewelry from the home before he was discovered.
Further investigation revealed a
potential suspect, a former acquaintance of the homeowner. Officers
located the suspect and after questioning him Monday, Feb. 1st.
Following questioning, the suspect was arrested on the above
charges.
At this time officers have not yet
recovered the stolen property. However, this case remains under
investigation.
