01-11-11 Witnesses detain shoplifting suspect; daily incident report

Arrested: Gregory Kucinski, 18, Boise

Charge: Burglary (F)

Boise Police patrol officers were called by employees of a retail store on the 8200 blk of W. Fairview Ave Monday afternoon shortly after 4:00 p.m. When officers arrived, they found the employees detaining a man the employees said they witnessed take items from the store without paying.

Witnesses told officers the suspect entered the store and was seen concealing items, leaving the store, sitting in a car in the parking lot, then returning and repeating the crime. Store employees stopped the suspect the second time he attempted to leave the store without paying for items in his possession. The suspect was booked into the Ada County Jail on the above charge.

The Boise Police Department's Organized Retail Crime Unit has developed a positive, productive working relationship with loss prevention agents from many local retail stores, large and small, local and national chains. The goal of the unit and it's cooperation with the Boise business community is to work with retailers to reduce theft and fraud, crimes that can have a significant impact on consumer prices.
