Boise Police observed a vehicle with cancelled plates traveling west on 27th yesterday evening (December 1st) at approximately 9:00 p.m. Officers stopped the driver in a parking lot on Chinden Boulevard and east 30th. The suspect exited the vehicle immediately and locked the doors, refusing to obey commands given by officers. Ignoring the officers instructions, the suspect walked to the front of the vehicle and then began running North across the parking lot. The man, later identified as Kelo Smoke, appeared to be under the influence of an intoxicating substance at the time. A blood draw was performed for later evidentiary testing. A check through Ada County records indicated the suspect had prior convictions for DUI making this charge a felony. A Boise Police K-9 alerted on the vehicle indicating the likely presence of drugs. A search of the vehicle revealed a backpack containing several small packages of meth with a total package weight of 54 grams. Officers also recovered digital scales and a glass pipe.
